Corgi Recon Force by sirpalee
A human spaceship crashes into a bowl of petunia, while orbiting a distant planet. It's up to the ships dog, to find the lost parts and save his owners precious life!
So the game is a simple platformer, you can use the arrow keys to control the dog, and the small probe helps you with finding the lost parts of the ship. You can't really die, so it's more like a relaxing exploration game, set in a small world, than a hard boiled platformer.
It's our first game ever, building the "engine" from scratch, using my own opengl code to draw everything. So I hope you guys enjoy playing the game, and manage to find everything. The expected gameplay length is 5-15 min.

It's a pity that there is no HUD and the approach doesn't stray from the traditional platform =(.
I like the mood the game sets up from the outset, just the title itself made me smile. As for the game itself I found the movement felt pretty good for the most part but there seemed to be a lot of oddities with it at places. The graphics could use some work, particularly underground where the background gets a lot of contrast which makes objects harder to see. The open level design was very overwhemling for me and it is probably that alone that made me put down the game. I like the idea of the probe as well but I think it could use some tweaking and perhaps it could show the directions of nearby parts.
Cool for a LD accomplishment, funny intro, but not really that fun or innovative.
There are a lot of animations what didn't made into the final game, but hopefully I could include them soon. (I will probably do a post-release expanded version later this and next week, so if you enjoyed the game, be sure to look back in 1-2 weeks, and give it an another try!)
When hundreds of people make non-browser games, that means that, to play all of the entries, I would need to download hundreds of games to my computer. I typically use OS X, so Windows-only entries are particularly inconvenient.
Please consider making a browser game next time.
Only bug: the text messages didn't show up at first. I only saw them when i came back to the ship.
also, i got a strange bug, the corgi seemed to double-jump, even triple-jump at times o.O
For the hints, it's kinda easy to bypass the third hint about the probe, as I managed to place it below and somewhat further from the first platform, and if you began jumping as soon as possible, you simply miss that one.
Finding all the parts got kind of repetitive, but I think I wouldn't have minded that if the jump hadn't been kind of odd. Sometimes I couldn't jump at all while running, other times if I held the key down I could jump three or four times in mid-air.
Nice background music though.
The low gravity makes it feel a bit strange as well, and the jumping mechanic doesn't always seem to register.
Overall it is a solid platformer. Nice work!
I think since gravity is so low, you should make it so you can choose your jump height based on how long you hold down the jump key.
Jumping is buggy; you can jump in the air pretty easily and sometimes you can't jump when you should be able to.
The open world concept is awesome. Making a platformer allows LD players to jump right in, which is important for LD games I think.
There should be some kind of indicator of when you have enough parts. I think I missed the instruction to go back to your ship and just assumed I had to once I had 6 parts.
The graphics are nicely stylish, but you're drawing them weird. Round to the nearest integer before you draw them or something -- the fine lines are all blinky-seizurey. And I couldn't figure out the parts with blue background. Was I under water? (Not talking about the obvious water pools) Was I in an ice cave?
I don't really like the probe. It gives good information but it doesn't seem doggy enough. Maybe if it was a tennis ball with an antenna sticking out or something, I don't know.
