Super Fun Crushy Time! by Darkfrost

[raw]
made by Darkfrost for LD23 (COMPO)
---------------------
SUPER FUN CRUSHY TIME
---------------------
Web build requires Unity Web Player

The game is simple - Eat things smaller than you to become huge! I had great fun making this, really happy I finished, unlike the last LD, which I didn't finish :(

Anyway, play the game and leave a comment! ^^

I know the movement is a big buggy :) didn't have time to fix it, try to avoid walking on the north/south pole of the sphere!

There's 3 preset world modes (Large world is best imo!), but also have a go messing with the size / density settings!

Yes, control issues. But this was seriously fun.

The cats (?) can damage me. Hmm...can I eat the cats? I tried. Maybe that's why I lost.

When you're smaller than the cats, they damage you, when you're bigger... om nom nom :)

Some strange bugs with cam control but hey it seems a fun different idea. I liked it, congrats.

Someone mentioned problems with the links not working, so here's a dropbox mirror of the web version, if you have a problem: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/41459127/WebPlayer.html

Very weird, very good looking, great color palette. Controls are a bit confusing but still liked it a lot!

Hey it's sort of like a Katamari Dungeon Crawler and that's awesome. Mouse was WAY too sensitive, otherwise great job!

Very good. I ate a house. Then I won. It becomes more of a challenge not to step in the traps when you get large, which makes it more fun; I was sad when I ate a cat though.

This is one of my favourites so far. I mean, the concept itself is a little safe, but just the fact you can execute it in the way you have is impressive.

Hey, nice idea!
You should use Quaternion.FromToRotation() in order to make a real movement on a sphere, without having to create strange collision spheres at the poles. ;-)

That was awesome fun. Lots of potential, and the art/music was cute. :D

Interesting game. Bit too much like Katamari but it's still one of the games I enjoyed the most so far.

Wonder what your chances are of getting PETA'd for eating the cat. :D

I find it strangely hard to play Katamari from a FPS perspective. ;)

It made me laugh... first game of the compo to do that. It was pretty intuitive once I realized what things were good and what things were bad.

Poor kittens. They never seem to fair well in these compos.

Great work!

The camera made me a little motion sick. The concept is cool though, kind of reminds me of Katamari Damacy. Except you're eating everything.

Really good Katamari-like game! Control issues notwithstanding, I really had fun becoming the biggest thing around, and there's something about moving around in a sphere I absolutely love :D

An interesting little game, a different take on Katamari with harsher penalties. Would love to see this explored further!

Mouse control was a bit confusing, it felt like the ball was slowly turning to the left.
But on the other hand, it was a lot of fun to play and get stronger :)

Good game. Gameplay mechanics aren't new, but first-person worked really well. Wish there was some way to restore health :). Also it was nice crushing traps after growing large!

I liked this game, but I wouldn't really play it more than once. Still the game worked pretty well (aside from the obvious movement bug)

Fun game! I liked eatimg bigger and bigged things. Controls are a bit tough to get a hang of, and the traps are mean ;).

The character moves kinda slow and there are some glitches but man! it's DAMN fun to be big! haha. I enjoyed your entry. Well done sir.

I liked the idea. The traps in the first time were annoying, but latter i's easy to avoid them. Good game.

pretty cool overall, also respectable amout of artwork you did within the 48 hours. However, I find it hard to keep the music going, it became annoying after some time. This is some nice work though.

Easier to start on a large world. It was satisfying once I could eat almost anything. Very fun. Just, who's making the sandwiches??

Some nice ideas, but the controls make it difficult to fully appreciate. You should definitely do a post-compo version.

Nice game idea. Became a bit glitchy when I was big.
