Tininess Defense by The-Force

[raw]
made by The-Force for LD23 (COMPO)
Hi all! First Ludum Dare here! Great experience but next time I need to sleep more ><

************************************************************

Survival Platformer 2D where you try to defend the tininess of your planet destroying meteors that would make it bigger. The meteors are destroyed by running over the surface of the planet making it to spin and burning the meteors with the accelerated atmosphere. NASA approves

Just try to destroy all meteors before they hit the planet. If a meteor hits the planet it creates a crater. Craters disappear after 10 seconds making the world to grow.

The timer shows the time since the start of the level.
The pink bar is the "love" for the planet.
Yellow bar is the energy needed to run.

Controls are [A],[D] or [<-],[->] and [_____Space_____]
Menu controls are [W],[S],[Enter],[Esc]

known bugs:
* Timer should stop when the pink bars becomes empty
* Particles move weird in the web build in fullscreen.

Notes:
- When you die nothing happens but I made it that way. You can Esc+Restart.
- I planned to add more planets, so when you lose one, you travel to another, but I had no time to implement that :(. I will in the future.
- Sounds were made in a rush and I know some are to loud

Really interesting concept, shame there's not more content/gameplay. Looks and sounds good and seems pretty polished.

The sound effects were really loud over the music when I played. Cool Graphics, neat play mechanic.

Fun game good idea to it was really hard, but it defiantly fit the theme. Good job.

I thought this was a cute game. Sometimes it was really hard to turn the planet and the craters would stop you dead. Jumping also caused the planet to stop spinning.

Good concept though, I really liked it.

I died... And then... Nothing. But it's cute and fun!

I'd be really excited for more content here too.

NASA approved -- I laughed.

Looks great, and I like the central mechanic. Shame it's so short, but it's really well done!

I wanted to try the web version but it doesn't work because unity returns "bad file size" error.

So I tried to download the windows version... the file downloaded was incomplete...

Please fix it, your game looks cool.

Jumping over obstacles somehow feels "sticky", otherwise I love the idea of air-frictioning the meteors away.

The graphics look beautiful. When will unity come to linux? I want to play it so bad.

I like the graphics and how the little guy says "Can you help me?" I got stuck - my guy died almost immediately (Doh!) and then I was just sitting there. Fun to run around the ball though.

It was fun! It was a little easy, but I supposed if you were to add more planets it would get more difficult. Great idea in making the world get bigger forcing the player to react quicker. Run jumping was awesome too.

Cool stuff. Graphics looked good. The controls felt a bit sticky (couldn't jump correctly) and the SFX were a little loud. But great overall

It has an excellent gameplay premise. The sounds and music are great (I get it stuck now in my head, so thank you very much >:( ¡grrrrrrrr!... just kidding).
Good job!

somewhat surprisingly for a unity game this actually runs ok under WINE so I was able to test. I like the graphics and sound but honestly there wasn't much to the game, cool but could use some expanding.

good graphics, nice and fun gameplay, audio maybe a little too loud.

I really like how you interpret the Theme, because I thought of the same thing for my game first too :D.
I soon moved a little bit away from it, but i still have the planet style.
So 5/5 for theme for sure. (and the other rating are not bad either)

Sound is bit rough and the planet could keep spinning when you jump. Great graphic style, cute background music and innovative gameplay. Good job.

You need to find some other way to break up the player just running in a circle than those rocks

Haha, spin your planet to save it :) I liked this idea, and the game itself is really fun. Well done!

Interesting concept, and with some of the features you talked about implementing, this could be a great little game. Great job.

11. May 2012 · 01:35 UTC
Interesting concept, but the player character runs far too slow to make it at all exciting. I also felt that it was completely impossible to destroy all of the meteors before they hit the planet, and I didn't understand the point of the pink bar. The graphics and sound were good though. :)

Yeah, my world got huge... oh, that wasn't the point? Dammit.
Nice work! The graphics are great, I didn't though it was a 3D rendering, great work there. Music is also quite nice.
Controls are a bit tedious, though.
