Congratulations on finishing LD23!
If you have something selected to combine, then click it again (as I kept reflexively doing to deselect), it seems to vanish from existence forever. That was more than a little annoying.
I've been pretty damn critical with my comments and ratings so keep that in mind when I say that this game was really fun and addictive. Simple concept but just made me want to keep on playing until I won (quite a while). Probably the only complaint I have is that there is no reset button so I can start the game afresh when I balls it up. Also I think there should be a more final sort of defeat. Other than that it was a great experience and very well balanced. Good work!
Different guy here (to the above post). Also played it. Was a heap of fun. I got yelled at though for skipping straight from purely building level 1 energy generators to building a universe, seems that there needs to be something to balance against just flooding out cheap generators all over the map (and just taking the losses, because the massive income offsets that).
However, I feel like it was missing a "Forty billion stars" reference.
It would be really nice if the size of the cells expanded as their complexity did (so a city would be larger than an animal, an animal larger than a cell, etc). Not sure how well this could integrate with the game.
Also, if you upgraded past the level of a item that you already had in the world, it would become impossible to get rid of it -- maybe add a "destruct" button?
Thanks for the great game!
The music was quite space themed.
oh, and the tutorial was a nice addition... You don't see too many LD games with tutorials.
I thought this felt very nice and complete! If you ever added anything extra, I bet it would be pretty easy to design some fairly compelling online play :)
