For example, if I change directions quickly on the ground, I press the key before I actually want the character to change direction, in anticipation of some sliding. When wall kicking, I found myself doing the same thing, pressing the opposite key as I contacted the wall. But if you aren't pressing towards the wall when you try to kick, you just fall down.

I really enjoy it. I like this kind of game, it´s now innovative, but works very well. Congrats.
Maybe it could be harder ;D
Nice work. The mechanics remind me a bit of Super Meat Boy (which I also thought was too hard).
