Skull Hunt by Kelly Thomas
A simple platformer about a man left for dead after his ship is pillaged by raiders.
This is solo project and my first platformer.
I have submitted into the Jam as I wanted 72 hours to sort out any kinks.
All sprites and tiles were created as 16x16 pixel images using paint.net and then scaled to the appropriate size.
The audio is recorded by using a Playstation Eye connected to a PC running Audacity.
The sound you hear when the player or an item falls into the sea is me dropping an unshelled walnut into a large pot of water balanced dangerously close to my PC.
The guitar is being performed by my uncle.
The font was found installed on my workstation and would be the property of either microsoft or adobe.
To run just unzip and run the .exe, no install required.
NB: Requires both .net 4.0 and xna 4.0 redistributables.
Both of these have been placed at http://games.kellythomas.info for your convenience.
EDIT: Fireworks for New Year's Eve!!

Once during the game I glitched through a platform, you might want to look into that. Also, it was a bit too easy. Maybe faster enemies/enemies that shoot, or something might help.
Some suggestions:
- The text in the introduction is glued to the left side of screen. Give it some room to breathe!
- The inventory line is kinda "hidden", even if it is at the top of the screen. (your character stays on the bottom, so that is where you will focus your eye). You might want to put a background on the inventory list.
Oh, and cool thing that you can throw the goal objects as weapons :-D
Thanks for the game!
If I am being picky, I'd say the graphics are a bit inconsistent in style. Some elements like the player character are very low-resolution compared to the life hearts or enemies. Both aspects look good individually, but it's a bit jarring to see them side by side.
Overall, as other comments point out, this is a pretty good attempt at a platformer!
I've rated overall a little low because this is a Jam entry and this game looks more a 48-hour entry rather than a Jam, and since you have 72-hours extra I don't think it would be fair to rate you too high. Nevertheless, well done and keep on it!
The graphics are decent, but the fact that some things are more pixelated than others isn't good. There isn't much connection to the theme either.
a) wasd for movement and numberpad-123 for actions.
b) arrows for movement and zxcv for actions.
