SlimeShifter by Jerba

[raw]
made by Jerba for LD35 (JAM)
This is my entry for the Jam :) (And first Ludum Dare entry ever yay)

I came up with puzzle-platformer where you play as shapeshifting slime - SlimeShifter. SlimeShifter has few different forms that you can use to solve puzzles, aka avoiding danger and pressing buttons.
The game is short, just going trough the basic mechanics. I had few big puzzles done and designed but Unity crashed and I lost few hours of work. :(

My friend made art assets (except I made the tileset) but I worked mostly solo - planning, designing, programming, bug fixing, crying in corner... And there's no audio in the game :(

Try it out!

Bug Fix(es) on 19th April 2016
- Gravity fixed.
- When I fixed Gravity, I accidentally turned off Ending trigger :/
- You can run now (move slightly faster)

It feels like it could use more speed, or a speed-up button or something, but anyways, the concept is sweet, the physics feel good and the animation of the slime is very good aswell! Good job!

I really enjoyed the game. I loved the puzzle towards the end. There is a lot of potential. I think you should play with the mechanics you have and create some more interesting level! :) I think music would've made the experience nicer but other than that I enjoyed it.

Pretty neat for a first entry and solo !
Actually, i had some difficulties to understand that you didn't need to use the slime to climb the wall in the first level ! xD
Well done !

Runs well, and your puzzles nicely used the toolset you gave the player. R being suicide was a rather obnoxious surprise. In the first room, the ceiling walk wasn't very obvious (that you had to hold up), and I ended up discovering the other forms on my own and running past. Not being able to morph in mid-air, except for the invuln form, was obnoxiously inconsistent.

Overall, not bad, though. Good work.

The character is sooooo amazing! I loved the fellow detail near to the ending(?).

If I were to change something, I would make transformations last a bit less, and maybe character can move slightly faster (+20%?) I joined my fellows but we are trapped T_T

For a GRIMM approach on fellow Shapeshifting checkout our entry! :)

Thumbs up for character and level design. The puzzles are cool and can be very interesting if you continue working on the game.

Lovely animation on the slime(s), and a good choice of different forms.
I got to a room with a bunch of other slimes in, and I'm guessing that that was the ending?
Could have done with being longer, nice game though! :)

Yeah, I liked this! Felt like you'd genuinely embraced the theme, and the mechanics were introduced well. Can definitely see where you'd take it after the jam too! Character art really nice, but backgrounds could definitely benefit from some love too :)

Cool game! Wish it was a little more fast and that you had time to make some sounds ( i know how hard that is :c )

Welcome to Ludum Dare, though! Really nice first entry, but as others said before me, you should go even deeper in your mechanics, and add content!

Well done mate!

Overall, REALLY fun little game. A bit short, as you noted, but such is the life of LD. Art style was wonderful!
