Transform! The Three Natures by cudabear

[raw]
made by cudabear for LD35 (JAM)
In the world, there are three natures. To acclimate the youth to these natures, the shapes are put through extensive training. Use the three natures to shapeshift your way through the obstacle course and make it to the end.

CONTROLS:
- arrow keys to move left/right (or rotate left/right as a triangle)
- up to jump (or move forward, as a triangle)
- down to move backward as a triangle
- A or 1 to transform into a circle blob, good for jumping
- S or 2 to transform into a square blob, good for pushing
- D or 3 to transform into a triangle blob, good for swimming
- R to respawn (if stuck, or dead)

Fixed Bugs:
- Splash Screen no longer plays twice
- Music can no longer get played twice at the same time

Known Bugs:
- Possible to get stuck in a wall as Triangle in the water
- Possible to "wrap" around floating platforms and get stuck
- Boxes sometimes fall before the player gets to them

Game is fun! But I got stuck in a wall, don't know if it is a bug...

Wow this game was great for so little time. The graphics were fun to look at and there was a nice overall feel.

I like the bouncy physics nature of this game, but the gameplay is still a bit rough around the edges (as is to be expected). Ace stuff considering the time limit.

Switching between different shapes to overcome obstacles is good idea but without proper execution it would not be so interesting. Luckily you have done it well, so it's hard to dislike this game :)

Loved the level design. The soft-body is very cool also the expressions give a very cute touch.
Got a little of trouble in the last part, the boxes spawn was very random, so I needed to restart that part to get them in the right place. Very good game!

I really enjoyed this game.
Cute graphics and mechanics :)

I think you got a bug on death, no idea how to restart.

Great job!

Hi Morco.

To Respawn, press R. It's listed in the game but not on the description, I'll add it there.

Really fun short game! Some points though:

Cons:
- triangle control is really weird under water; you get stuck on the walls fairly easy
- remembering the transformations was tough at the beginning -> introduce player to the shapes on the go
- framerate was kinda low

Pros:
- great humor
- tutorial was great
- SPEEDRUN STRATS (seriously, could be a good speedgame)
- I like platformers

I love what you did with the shape changing, it looks awesom. The whole game should be polished a bit (better background gfx and such, maybe bezier curves for the blob version) but this is really nice and fun.
Well done, mechanics are great!
Great onboarding via the intro too btw :)

Good mechanics! the tutorial could probably have been done as text as you moved through the first level though.

I did get stuck pretty early and couldn't figure out how to move forward (just after the spikes after the water...)

Really nice core idea hear, enjoyed it. I liked how the circle could float and how the triangle could dive. There were a few bugs; such as two layers of music being played at the same time and the game freezing when I die but it was a good concept.

@Sir Magic

Were you able to press R to restart when you died, or did the game completely freeze up?

The squishyness of the shapes is a really neat feature. Great job!

Smart physics. Perhaps this is the best realization to transformation. I liked the story and the characters. Very short pieces of learning at a time when you face difficulties. For many players this will be a problem: first, remember the rules, then learn to apply them.

Fun game! Nice level design as well.

The only con, it was a little slow here.

Continue improving this game!! See ya ;)

I loved the bouncing look of the shapes.Using the circle and the triangle in combination where cool too.
The buttons function were not clear at the beginning.

graphical tutorials could help a lot.

Nice game !
