Happy Land by Vilborg

[raw]
made by Vilborg for LD22 (JAM)
Bob the disgruntled army kitten just wants to be left alone. However, the happy kitten residents of Happy Land won't take "no" for an answer. Bob does the natural thing: starts shooting.
Be sure to listen to the wonderful title song!
Arrow keys move, space fires.
*Keys 1-5 switch weapon. You can't equip a weapon with no ammo. THERE IS NO INGAME GUI (SORRY), YOU MUST PRESS THE BUTTONS AFTER GETTING HEARTS TO FIGURE OUT WHICH WEAPON YOU GOT (again, sorry)*
1 - Rainbow Splitter: infinite ammo, fallback weapon
2 - Rainbow Gatling: rapid-fire
3 - Heartbreaker: sprays hearts everywhere
4 - Octaflower: shoots a flower that splits into eight petals
5 - Smile Boomerang: flies in an arc

IMPORTANT: If you cannot run the game (most likely cause is not having XNA), then you must use the installer. I am really sorry for those of you who don't like installers, but it's really the only way to distribute XNA games.

I was unable to run it:/

(win 7 x64, with generous specs.)

Lots of fun! The diagonal didn't seem to work when going from horizontal to vertical. That installer worked, btw.

Haha, pretty fun. Could have used a few more enemies to switch it up after the fourth wave or so.

Oh, and awesome soundtrack, btw. :P

OMG. I did 11 waves and was angry that there was only one weapon.... lesson learned, read the devs entry first and yes I played it again ^^
anyway, it was fun, as The Jahn said it would be nice with more enemies. +1 for soundtrack :p

that's a lot of kittens!

some of the weapons felt a bit weak, but the controls were smooth and it played quite well!

Wave 8 138 killed
Nothing really special, but awesome music ^^
To all not being able to run the game: You need XNA Framework installed...

Well, technically the game is not that bad. The controls are responsible and the game runs smoothly. I would make the bullets bigger and move more slowly, since I couldn't see them at all (no sound effects didn't help). Also, I couldn't change weapons or see the weapon/ammunition display (was there one?) Gratz on finishing the game!

Yeah there isn't much at all to this. I love killing cats as much as the next guy, but I would've liked some extra guns and some kind of strategy.

I wish there were more variety in enemies, as others have said. And now, thanks to you, I have this tune stuck in my head!! :-D Fun game.
