Solitary Sand by Cross

Here's my first Ludum Dare entry and my first completed flash game.

I recommend a half decent set of stereo headphones or a surround sound setup.

It's a concept I'd always thought could be cool, and was my first thought when the theme was announced.

I learned a lot about flash and will take part for sure in the future.

Source is messy but still belongs to me. if you have any questions, hit me up on Twitter.

Love this concept, so good. Only downside is that for me at least, in Chrome/Mac the mouse seems to become unresponsive after a while :(

Very innovative game, but I had a really hard time figuring out where stuff was. I eventually found the metal object but couldn't do anything that I found with it. I didn't have a lot of fun with it, but the concept is golden.

Very cool concept. Unfortunately, the limit of holding one item and the seeming inability to use items together caused me too much trepidation. I don't have a great way of knowing where I dropped the rope after I pick up the metal thing, so I don't want to drop it. So I don't progress... still, you're on to something.

Interesting idea. I mostly wandered around, lost, though :-)

Love, love the idea! It gives me such a weird feeling not being able to rely on my eyes to explore everything. Probably what a blind person would feel like..

I do agree with everyone though that it's a little bit too open. More tightly controlled environment would have actually made it a more intense/interesting experience. Keep it up though! :)

Thanks for the input guys. The sounds really restricted me as far as environments go since I lack any sound gear aside from my laptop microphone.

I'm thinking on a sequel that would take place in a more enclosed space with other people to interact with.

Although the concept is very interesting, it wasn't really fun. At least some indication of if I was heading in the right direction would have been nice. I was a bit put off after I found the metal, since I had to drop the rope and I hadn't a clue where I had left the driftwood. But the audio and mood where awesome. Good job.

It is an innovative idea, but it is too easy to get lost for me even with headphones. Maybe the area is too big.

I've wanted to do an audio-only 3D game like this for years. Nice work, though I agree that a smaller, more closed-in environment would work better
