Lonely Dungeon by eerongal

[raw]
made by eerongal for LD22 (COMPO)
A relatively simple maze-based game with a small twist. Arrow keys/WASD keys to move, space/left shift to "phase" through different mazes.

Written in C# using XNA. Graphics done via adobe photoshop and sound with Fruity Loops. Everything was created from scratch specifically for this competition.

The windows executable attachment is the executable that would be created with the installer. THIS WILL ONLY WORK ON PCs THAT HAVE THE XNA REDISTRIBUTABLE INSTALLED. IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE XNA REDISTRIBUTABLE INSTALLED, USE THE WINDOWS W/ INSTALLER LINK.

It will install the game and the redistributable all at once.

I started working on the contest about 14 hours late, so I had to cut some things I wanted to add in.

I think the player needs to be able to move faster, and have some clear goal to work towards.

The theme is certainly present with every treasure you find =D
I like that the conditions to get the two endings are in complete opposition to one another and change how you have to play.

The player does move really slow, but really it is an incredibly small maze so I don't think it is too bad.

I specifically liked the different texts for each object ^^ Nice but short game! :D

Hall crawlers are always fun. I agree with comments above: The player could move a bit faster. I really liked how you animated the player sprite's eyes to reflect the direction you were traveling! I also enjoyed the discovery screens that detailed the different items the player came across. I think the story could have been given some more attention. However, pretty solid entry for starting 14 hours late! And, I thought the lighting helped set the mood.

The game went from "oh, one of these" to "haha" once I figured it out. Nice music, it really added to the mood.

So, there's an end, but it takes some self control to not halt the game before it, as this guy is so sloooooooow. Shame we can't move a bit faster. Just a bit.
