I made it to level 4 and got 85200 ;) Great game!
I got this error message on linux "error while loading shared libraries: libmikmod.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".
I actually have that lib installed, but still it did not work so you might want to include it.

ahh...thanks for pointing that out, i actually missed ALL the sdl_mixer deps when packaging (i pulled them but forgot to copy them into the folder i made the zip out of) guess i've just gotten lucky and all users so far have had them. I don't want to update the downloads now but i'll toss the missing deps in http://www.midnightfragfest.com/images/lib32/ and http://www.midnightfragfest.com/images/lib64/ for anyone who might need them (alternatively also, if you have SDL_mixer installed locally you can simply delete the sdl/sdl_mixer libs from the program directory and it'll use your system ones, I tried to make sure to pack all the SDL deps to make things a bit easier but i guess i had a derp moment when making the zip)

derp...that's why, my 64 bit sdl_mixer since i custom built it didnt have those deps, and i must have just copied the same libs for the 32 bit, guess i should have paid a bit more attention when packing the zips.

Fun game! Dodging and shooting felt solid.
Keyboard controls felt weird since I've been playing so much Binding of Isaac, so if you're going to continue this game add an option to switch WASD and arrow keys.

Robotron! And it hates you and wants you to die even more than the original did!
And the controls are backwards - it feels really weird having the fire controls on the left...

yeah, sorry about the controls, keyboard controls were almost an afterthought, and didn't end up having time to allow remapping (I had to go down to do christmas stuff with my family that weekend). It's really "meant" to be played with a dual joystick controller like the ps2/ps3 controllers but has keyboard just so others can test. And yeah, a couple people got it, the coloring of the first level, the poorly drawn cash, etc.. was all references to robotron and smashtv :D

Also, for the music, it's a sin wave w/ a shifted log based on time, clipped out the "interesting" part, mirrored and time shifted in audacity :D (didn't have time for real music)

Whoo, it's like I'm back in the oooooooooold days. Really simple concept, but surprisingly fun! I can't say I agree with the choice of input scheme though since you can easily run into keyboard lockups (granted, dual-analog joysticks would solve that, but not all of us have those lying around D:).

Awesome! So much fun. Though, it didn't detect the X axis on my 360 controller's right stick for some reason.

And yeah, for keyboard I would also suggest swapping the WSAD and arrow keys, for me it's way more intuitive to have movement on WSAD.

It would be nice if there were some instructions. The first time I played I thought the goal was to get as many enemies as possible on screen before dying to score points. Then I read these comments and realised that I could shoot.

The graphics aren't the best, though the sounds are good. The gameplay itself is a lot of fun. You've got to love that classic arcade action. My best score is 87350, on level 4.

When I tried the game with an Xbox 360 controller I could only fire up and down.

Pretty fun, this is way too hard for me though! I only made it to level 2. :(

Tough and could use instructions. I like how the graphics/audio go together.

I found the music kind of nice, but also kind of annoying at the same time. Which, in itself, makes the music interesting.

Tough game, though. I found when I tried to change direction back and forth really fast I would end up stopping (I think because I was pressing one key before I released the other, or I was pressing one key, pressing another and releasing the second key without ever really releasing the first or something).

Robots have so many advantages... including being inpervious to their own explosions.

I don't know if I am too use to “The Binding of Isaac” or what, but somehow I was trying to move with WASD while shooting with the arrow keys. Although the theme fits in the game, I don't feel the “alone mood” with so many robots around trying so hard to kill me! It was a good little action game.
