Turret Arena by nikev

[raw]
made by nikev for LD35 (COMPO)
A mixture between tower defense and.. football? Join a 10v10 match where your job is to deploy shape-shifting turrets to destroy your enemy.

I ran out of time and didn't add extra turrets like shield, health, etc. The goal was to allow the the user to transform turrets from one type to another.

The web version is only available in desktop versions of Chrome.

The windows version requires the Visual C++ 2015 runtime. (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145)

Good, but a little bit of a faster pace would be nice. The sounds are also a little flat.

Good job.

Thanks for providing a web link - it's hard to play something on Linux. The game feels slow, but that can be easily fixed. Good entry.

I found the movement speed to be way too slow, but a pretty cool idea otherwise.

Really cool! I wish you moved a little faster though. I snuck into the enemy base and stole their turrets :p I wasn't quite sure where the shapeshifting came in, though.

My biggest concert here is clarity. It's hard to tell which player is you, it's hard to tell which turrets are whose.
The AI is pretty smart, I wish it prevented you from placing turrets inside of spawns.

What would be REALLY cool would be, instead of having to walk back and forth, you controlled a tank that shapeshifted into a turret when you pressed space, and then you'd respawn as another tank. score would be by the amount of turrets/ tanks that were destroyed.

This is really fun! I wish there would be a way to tell which turret belongs to which team, it get confusing real fast :) Some kind of spawn protection would be nice, it's easy to sneak in to the enemy base and fill it with turrets:) It's a really nice job!

The idea is really nice. Online version could be epic with abilities and different turrets.

Very interesting concept, but because I moved so slow I didn't have much impact on the battle. I was mostly just commuting back and forth.

Until I discovered a trick - you can build a turret on a wall cell and it will erase the wall. So I set up a few quick turrets where my spawn wall was that guarded my half. Then I built turrets replacing the wall between our spawn zones and my turrets opened fire on their guys coming to their door to get boxes. After that the balance tipped hard and I won.

I played a while and liked it, though! Nice entry.

Hi, nice game ! We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #35.
Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description

This is very inventive. I really like the game play. I manage to exploit it a bit by just running to the other team's spawn point and placing their turrets around the area.

Really unique, good work!
