Death Game by Falleco

[raw]
made by Falleco for LD21 (-)
This is my entry for the LD #21 and my first game as well. I hope you like it.

Here you play a game from the death, it calls you and others souls to take a chance to come back to life and escapes from the death domains.

Use WASD to control, Mouse to shoot and E to create your own path until the exit. Only one soul can get it's life back, will it be you?

I doubt... huuhuh

Cool game, I like the block placing mechanic, however you might want to try changing the controls for placing blocks to something other than E, it was really awkward to use.

Good game! I found the controls a bit challenging, but the mood was good and I definitely had some scary moments being chased by the enemies. I had a bit of trouble playing on my laptop and either the block placing thing was a bit wonky or I never totally understood it. But well-done, especially for your first game for LD!

Not bad at all (especially for your first game :D)

The idea was nice, but the mechanism to build blocks was quite challenging...they never appeared where i wanted :)

I liked the atmosphere and the story, but the block placing mechanic is a little fiddly. I understand the difficulty in creating a block, however, anywhere other than either in the direction you're facing or in the direction you were facing, so it's forgiven. Overall, a very good first game :)

It is really hard to place blocks and move to the right at the same time. I almost feel like the mouse would be a better button to use for the blocks, and perhaps e could be used to toggle between the two modes. Also the looping background noise gets a bit old.

Cool stuff! Placing a block under yourself would be much more fun IMO :)

Sos, actually, you create the block in the last direction you 'look', so, if you type down (S) the block will be created under yourself (then you can jump and create it). XD

I think i didn't make it clear in the tipbox :(

Thanks for reviewing my entry!

Atmosphere is nice, the intro is too. didn't like the game mechanics though. the block building killed it for me, slowed the whole pace, didn't make sense.
love the menu screen distortion though :)

I use a non-qwerty keyboard layout so the wasd controls were tough, adding support for arrow keys would help me out quite a bit. Then I placed a block and it stuck me in the wall, trapped for eternity in the pits of hell. I also didn't want to kill any of the other poor lost souls, but maybe I'm a contrarian.

I'm a... creeper?

The mechanics definitely need more development to bring out a smoother flow to the gameplay, and the audio could use a tiny bit of variety to avoid driving players insane.

I liked the story, but blocks are a bit too hard to place, going up takes a lot of time and if you miss you must start from scratch. Maybe being able to jump up through a block could help :)

I really struggled with the controls on this. I liked the idea of placing blocks to move around, but it was too fiddly for me to enjoy for too long. If the controls are ironed out, this could be great! Enjoyed the moody music.
