Lava Tsunami of Doom by Shot

[raw]
made by Shot for LD21 (-)
Run away from the dangerously upright lava tsunami!

Should be runnable in any modern browser with html5 and canvas support. Flash may be required for the sound engine.

I REALLY recommend running this in an up to date version of Google Chrome. It's the only browser I've tested it in properly and know it works.

----------------------

How to play:

A = move left
D = move right
Shift = sprint
S = duck/slide
Space = jump
Point and click to shoot!

You can destroy floating damaged blocks, double jump and propel yourself slightly with the force of your 6-shot revolver. It won't reload until all 6 shots have been fired!

Nice! It was fun. It's a lot easier if you hold shift and down constantly.

The game bugged for me big time, it didn't take my input for ~80% of the time and every now and then the graphics disappeared apart from the background.

Controls seem broken for me, couldn't get jumping over anything to work.

Really, really well-done. I didn't quite see the whole point of the gun (recoil didn't seem to help too much, maybe you were going to add enemies but didn't have enough time, which I understand given the rest) but I found great fun in shooting the lava wall when I knew my time had come. The random platform generation was quite well-done, although situations would arise that were literally impossible to pass. I loved the fact that you ran at full speed when crounching and everything, I mostly played crouched down in mid-air like some sort of hindu god, which again was quite humorous. The occasional write-ins that would appear the bottom were quite whimsical, as well. All-in-all, a quite funny game with some points unintentionally so. Good show.

There should be some penalty for holding down Shift all the time... still, decent level gen and I like the gun shooting as jumping boost thingy. Needs more sounds for audio feedback (e.g. a "click" reload sound for every bullet). A bit too floaty for my tastes too...

I feel exactly the same way. A shame this can't run on Firefox in a smooth manner =/

pro-tip: You can shoot the cracked blocks with the gun to destroy them.

Had major performance problems, also whenever I left clicked the level mysteriously vanished for a split second.

Pretty fun little platformer and very theme-appropriate. Nice work!

FYI: This didn't work in IE9 for me (but did work in Chrome).

Unfortunately, this didn't work for me in chrome :(

It said "press space to continue" on the instructions page, but when I did, nothing happened.

I played it on Opera ... feels like a good game already, but when I leftclick the player graphics disappear and somehow I'm dead (Distance counter stops). Don't tell me the only thing I can shoot is myself? :)
