ZombieRunner...Ware by TellusE
[Quickly updated notes]
Controls:
Mouse clicks for dialog and activating the activatable item.
Mouse aim for aiming the aimable item.
W for jumping.
A and D for slight decrease or increase in running speed.
Brain for the patience to see all three (11!!1) items.
There is a gameover screen if you can manage to completely ignore the controls and fail even basic reflexive and eye-hand coordination tests. There is, however, no way to beat the game.

kill a zombie...
take a spear...
take a babie...
ride a sheep and die!
funny game for short periods of boredom, nothing exciting though.
how ever I still hunger for brraaaiiiins
I had grandiose plans for a selection of different items trying to restrict the player as much as possible to the workings of that one item (sparklers, shields, guns with ammo, guns without ammo...) - unfortunately, I spent all too much time just getting the few ones there in a relatively functional state. Spear rotations, baby tears, several hours just figuring out why normal collisions worked in some parts of my code and not others (turns out collision() needs to be called very early on in the game loop).
I'm trying to figure out if I should spend the time and polish it up - a bunch of levels (one for each item archetype), randomly seeded at the start of the game and improve both audio and visual impressions. Any thoughts or should this just be the LD48 learning experience.
Oh, and Rialgar just made my week :D That's going on a T-Shirt. Or a Ringtone, or my login sound. "ride a sheep and die"... heh.
If I don't have the web up in 15 mins I'm uploading the game to Dropbox temporarily.
And a screaming baby! Perhaps the escaped mutant child from a certain research hospital? ;)
Well done, I thoroughly enjoyed this.
Overall, it's really fun, well done! :)
Dialogs were great too, it gives the player the feeling he is interacting with the game. Also, they made me laugh a lot.
Excellent music and great sounds.
Great work and good luck.
The spear so long it looks like you can pole vault with it (hint hint game mechanic idea); the baby was hilarious and I just loved sheep-riding zombie-crowd-surfing my way to 2800 kills before being killed at the end of a level, because my spear rotated to the left as the screen stopped scrolling... at least I took 2800 zombies with me!
Was a hoot and all-round very well polished - congratulations on a great entry!
