Display of Weakness by Christina Nordlander

[raw]
made by Christina Nordlander for MINI41 (-)
An attempt to make something like an actual game using a CYOA format in Twine. You are a prisoner forced to participate in a manhunt with a fitter and more skilled opponent. Your only chance is to put on a show of weakness to lull the opponent into a false sense of security. But don't go to over the top, or the managers might decide to straight-up execute you.

I really enjoyed your writing! Had to backtrack sometimes, but played twice through the story in the end to see where the dialogs lead.

Aw shucks, you guys. (Corny language chosen to mask my delight at the positive feedback.)

NOTE: I accidentally entered "Windows" since I didn't notice there was a "Web" category. What can I say, it's my first LD and it was well over 2AM local time when I posted it. So to clarify, the game is online and can be played by anyone.

Also, in the description, "fought" should be "forced".

Hmmm... you could go back to edit your entry, correct the typo and change the category to "Web". I guess these kind of corrections are allowed even when the compo is closed! :)

All done now. :-) I didn't know I had to edit from the "browse entries" page, rather than from my entry proper.

An unexpected entry, and nicely written! But over just when it began to become interesting, and the interrogation options don't have any influence on the outcome, right?

They do, in fact. Each "wrong" answer gives you 1-2 weakness points. Collect too many, you're executed. Collect too few, and your opponent will waste you.

Very good writing! I also like the take on the theme and that in the interview have to balance your answers. Not every answer is just right or wrong.
I'm also glad I didn't read the spoilers.

It's alomst a bit of a shame you can play these games so quickly. Wrong answer? Just press back and try again.

I liked the writing, it was a great dark feel. I played through quite a few times just to see what would happen.

I can see that a lot of work has gone into this, good job :) - and I've played pretty much the whole story, I must have died at every available oppurtunity xD
