Robo Portrait by finalspace

[raw]
made by finalspace for LD 44 (JAM)

In the future where AI takes over all artist jobs, an aspiring robot artist yearns to be painting portraits in the great outdoors. Descending from the printer lines, it's heritage was always about accurate reproductions of the world. The lifeblood of the printer still runs through it's gears, but in order to create the ink must be used. Paint as accurately as you can, and you will be well compensated in ink. Art is your life, and life is your art. Ink on little Art Bot!

Nice Game!
I had i good time playing it! Very good graphics!
But there is very less variety and less "levels"! And what's about the Theme?
Buu overall a good game :).

@davidus Thanks for the support David!
I just updated the story for the theme. basically, the ink is the life and the currency, for the Robots!
I wish I have more time to create more levels. any good ideas?

Wow, that was even more enjoyable than I thought it would be :D
Originally came for the graphics. Really a sweet and fun thing you did there, definitley felt like a game!
The graphics are cute and the gameplay is challenging but not frutrating, also the idea is very nice! :)

Very fun game! I wish the music tempo increased with the brush speed, but excellent game!

Fantastic little game once you really start feeling the rhythm. Would be good to have a few more faces to draw for more variety. Also I never found the ink = life thing to be a challenge. Really enjoyed this game though

Pretty innovative - a rhythm game about painting! I do wish there was music to it since the mood is a bit bland without any audio, but an interesting entry for sure. Great job!

I love the graphics a lot! The first levels were boring, then it begins to become exciting with all the butterflies and the growing speed. Nice game!

Brilliant idea! Love the idea of exploring the connection between art and technology. Would have liked to see more original or interactive music elements in such a music oriented game. If your ever in need of such a thing I'd be happy to collaborate. Great work!

A fun game. But I think it would help a lot if you could start the level yourself or have a countdown. Sometimes you have to paint the first square and realize it too late.

The idea and graphics work so well together! I had a great time playing it, the time passed so fast i didn't even notice, maybe adding more levels on a final version would be cool! Very fun and casual game, good job!

This game looks and feels great. I had a great time playing. It made me think that it would be cool if you made a game where you can just try to mimic the picture as fast as possible. Like a free painting game with a timer and a tolerance rating that judges your performance on how close the final picture is to the result. Could lead to some hilarious results.

Lovely game! I really enjoy the art and music. It was clear and fun. However, the gameplay itself felt a bit unfair at times, as there's no breathing room (a "press J to start level" would be nice), and there's no indication of how fast the brush is going to go. I keep getting caught off guard by the level starting with a completely different speed. Still those are minor problems, the product itself is impressive for a 3-day jam product. Good job!

Neat! I liked the core idea quite a bit, and agree with others that with more faces and a little more polish it could be even better.

Pretty fun! I like how it gives you a chance to get used to the game before ramping up the difficulty. Cool theme and all the components work well together. Sometimes the game gets a little out of sync with the music, which makes the rhythm part harder. Great job!

I don't really feel like this fits the theme but other than that pretty fun game. The only improvement I can think of is to have like a countdown before it starts because I tend to miss the first square, I can't really react that quickly.

I really enjoyed how the music lines up with the squares, or am I just imagining things?

Hahah Darn That Butterfly! Well done guys, it was surprisingly entertaining, it hooked me in more then I would have ever thought. My first round was a failure as i didn't not yet realized that I had to copy the image but other then that it was smooth sailing. the song is on point

@finalspace Cool game! I love how the graphics pulse to the music. Is there beat detection happening in the code or did you just synchronize the animations with music manually?

Interesting idea for a game. One thought, it may be more fair to the player to display the desired pattern for a few seconds before the marker starts to move. Just a thought.

All in all, solid entry!

Liked the idea and the overall design as a music game, nonetheless I can't seem to find the relationship with the them though xP

If you got time please check out my game too, thanks! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/44/lifeline-loot

This was so fun! Although it was surprising to suddenly have a speed up version with a bunch of squares to color.
