Small World Transport by devpaul

[raw]
made by devpaul for LD 38 (JAM)

Unfortunately I run out of time. So its barely a game, but at least its playable.

Control: W,A,S,D / Arrows, or better, use an analog stick! :joystick:

Land on a landpad to pickup Packages, then bring them to the targeted facility, but beware Gravity Happens! Packages are Invisible, I run out of time. :disappointed_relieved: Also no sound effects (How do people do this in Compo time ???)

What you did get done was done very well. It seems like you were very close to having a complete game before you ran out of time. Since you're using Unity, I would look into building your future LD games as WebGL. It makes it much more likely to be played.

@campbell Thanks! I actually wanted to create a WebGL game (that's why you have to quit by ALT+F4), but I don't really have a website, and I wasn't sure were to upload. Maybe I will look into the github pages thing on the weekend.

Core gameplay is there and pixel art is decent. I think you should make a web and a post jam version. Look at itch.io and gamejolt.com for hosting your game.

Everything that is there is really good and well made :) Good controls - it is fun to fly around and the art is really good. I hope you are going for a post jam version :)

Nice little game! I liked the physics, but I think, it would be best if the shuttle rotated towards the center when not rotated by the player. otherwise, it's pretty good

theme and the art shined through! I hoped there'd be more out and about in the skies, after I got the hang out the controls I wanted more to do with them

Good controls, it would be good to expand with maybe stuff in the sky!

I think its a fun little game! I like the art and the controls were difficult at first but was able to use them ok after practice. I wish it were a bit more zoomed out so you have more time to dodge the tall buildings.

Great for unfinished! The controls are usually tough on these types of ship games, but it's not too hard in this :D

I think it would be cool to have a list of tasks/deliveries that are needed (maybe like three), and maybe let the player carry multiple packages. This would give some choice on where to go and in what order.

NIce start. I feel you with timings on these Dares. Thats why scope is so so important...
You should be proud of what you managed to accomplish. With some time this coulD be a fun little game.
You do need a menu or a restart button as i managed to get stuck under a tree and didnt explode.

Really fun game, a bit hard for me. I did deliver one package, but only wrecked four ships to do it. LOL I also got stuck in some places. I really enjoyed it.

I played this on Livestream Today at the request of the Developer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zCqO_O0iIo

A Great take on the Moon Lander genre, I think I'd love to see more extensive pixel animation and sound effects. Solid entry!

Skillz!!!...

Ahhh the days of Jupiter Lander on the C64...how I simultaneously loved and hated thee! This is a solid entry and, with a little more development, could be great! Here's my always-present wish-list:

* Have the camera zoom out when moving to see more of the world
* Have some more air-resistance - at the moment you can keep going "horizontally" a lot more than "vertically"
* Sounds and music (of course)
* Restart option

Excellent work!

@occultone Thanks for playing !

Wait, Pepperidge farm is real ? I'm not from the States and I thought it's just something out the Family Guy. *Oops!*

@richard-michael-smith Thank you for your kind words!

Changing zoom level relative to the speed, thats a great Idea! I will try to use it in my post jam version!

Very cute game, and clever idea! I enjoyed all the little touches, like Pepperidge Farm haha. I'll look forward to seeing the post-Jam version, since not being able to see the packages made things pretty difficult. Well done!

Boy how I wish there would have been some sound, would have distracted me a bit more to keep me playing longer. Conceptually I really like this. Controls were touchy, maybe if it eased into rotation a bit more it would have been easier. Not bad though. As for how to get sound in compo time, check out some of the free tools like http://www.bfxr.net/ and http://online.boscaceoil.net/#!/, easy and quick to use (difficult to master but you can certainly make passable sounds and music with them quickly)

Awesome graphics, I love them. The controls are rather hard :) I crashed a lot first, then it became fun. Do check out the BoscaCeoil and Bfxr as suggested above, I used them and didn't spend more than 1 hour (out of 10) producing sounds and "music" for my game :) Good job putting your game together!

Love the wacky controls...it makes for a fun challenge. Great concept, graphics looks well done, and had fun playing it!

I like the concept, but I miss sound and that you can crash with a big explossion...

I agree with previous comments having a farther more zoom out view where you see more planet would be great and make it easyer to control... but I would like less air resistence and let the ship enter orbit

The way the ship turns with thrust just doesn't feel quite right to me. It feels a bit wonky. I did get used to it though and managed to deliver several packages. I like the "roundness" of the world and how it plays into the actual game play. I do wish there were visual indications of damage when hitting things. I had a pretty good time with this especially landing on a pad upside down and then righting myself.

I was literally laughting while playing it ... Until I saw the two towers of the big city. This simple element was an absolute "mood killer"

It was a good concept (it could have used a restart button, though), and the graphics were well-done. It's too bad more couldn't be finished, but 48 hours isn't nearly enough time.
Good job!

Simple, functional mechanics. Nice art. Accidentally crashed a space ship into the World Trade Center. 8/10

Realy nice game! I think you should have implemented some kind of sound when firing the motors, maybe just blow into your microphone would have been enough. Also, I think the ship should have rotated with the earth. But else than that, it was great! The graphics were also great! Good luck on the next one!

I really enjoyed the game! I think the controls is its best mechanic!
