Cyberhell Cleaner by EricQuagmire

[raw]
made by EricQuagmire for LD 39 (JAM)

The game is about the robotic crusader (a special suit created by the Future Teutonic Order, for a reasonable energy bundle sent by the Creator), which destroys the cyberdemons in the underworld. However, hell climate is very bad for him and it takes energy with health (lightpower) away from him. The player must escape from the repression by hell atmosphere in special light rays, in parallel shooting back from the demons and looking for ammunition.

Control: W - Jump (with a possibility of double jump) A - Run to the left D - Run to the right 1 - Semi-automatic (Semi automat) 2 - Blade from Protoberanium (Protoberanium blade) 3 - Shotgun 4 - Cybercenser

P.S. You need to run around the level and get treated in the rays of light. The store is not realized up to the end, so all weapons are immediately available. The game has the mechanics of waves (repulse from one wave - get a breather and the opportunity to buy in a store - fight on the next wave). Do not forget to turn on the full-screen mode in the lower right corner of the screen Thanks to: • Organizers of Ludum Dare 39 in Minsk (Belarus). • zYnthetic – Bled Dry (Remaster) • All participants who helped and created a cool atmosphere.

Liked it :) GJ!

The only problem I had was that I clicked outside of the game many times and it lost focus (but that didn't effect my rating)

This is really cool, loved the moment when the music kicked in :-)

The animations and the atmosphere are great, they convey the dark feeling of hell.

The only thing to further the immersion is that you could have replaced the mouse cursor with a sprite of a crosshair or something similar. Other than that the graphics are awesome!

The gameplay was a bit confusing at first, I did not figure out that you could double-jump for some time, that is why I could not get up to find the pick up items. Then the items themselves were actually hard to spot, the ammo item is really small and among the body parts everywhere it was hard to see at first :-)

Great game, thanks and keep up the good work!

Really, really good game. The sprites are absolutely beautiful and well-animated, the music is awesome, and the gameplay is sublime.

I don't have much else to say about it, other than nice job -- and keep up the good work! :)

Visually really awesome and very fun to play but how the shop worked and the fact that you can double jump weren't really obvious and i didn't fully get the theme out of it

The best thing about this game is the art. The sprites are really well done. It would've been nice to use the shop. And the music is definitely... interesting. Good job on this one. One small gripe I have is that it's hard to tell how to get more energy.

This is a good one for sure! love the Art! Game play is pretty good. Arena style works well. I was hoping to see more enemies, maybe I didn't get far enough. audio is good, the genre suits the game, maybe just a bit too white noisy. very interesting. Animations are key here. The exploding body parts makes it! Great jam! There was a slight glitch that repeated twice for me when I died early on. I just stood there unable to move but could still attack and get points, with no health left. Usually you lose your head and explode, sometimes when I died I just stood there for a bit and then like 30 seconds later the first wave would start up. so it didn't break the game just delayed.

Super fun, and great soundtrack.

I have 2 complaints. First the game is fast and it just breaks the flow with the long delays between waves. Second not really a problem just saying the game needs some sound effects, but the soundtrack is killer.

Wow I love this game! Shame there isn't any music though. The graphics and game feel are top notch and the atmosphere is pretty great. Mechanically I couldn't really understand it as well as I would have liked. The power mechanic was a bit confusing for me to be honest and the shop was confusing and never explained. I had such a good time playing though and you should b proud of what you have accomplished.

Wow, so nostalgic! Reminded me of 95's 'Abuse' for some reason. Probably the mood.
Super cool music - fits the theme perfectly. Nice job.

Does the game end though? I've got a stupid death on wave 7..

You could try to set the fullscreen quality to low in the project settings on construvt2. the game would run better and the pixellated effects gonna be great

The music and art gives you this kind of doom mood which is pretty much full action and fast paced. And then you made these tiny bullets and a low ammo limit forcing you to properly aim and be careful with every bullet you shoot :D WHY???? :D:D:D

Music is cool, I like the angular weapon swings. Little to no feedback on hitting enemies though, could really use a sound or a damage flash to indicate when someone is getting hit/killed. Really nice visual style, all this needed was a little more polish on player movement and combat feedback and it'd be excellent.

Oh yeah, i love Killing Floor and i love this game as well. Nothing like slaughtering waves of monsters to earn money and then spend it in shop so you can kill EVEN MORE MONSTERS. Graphics are really great and i like the backstory, power armored crusader in hell just sounds so cool. Gameplay is fun but kinda repetitive and AI often get stuck. But still it's pretty entertaining to use different weapons to put enemies down. Oh and great choice of music. Really fun game, good job!

The Web version just wouldn't work for me, so I downloaded the Linux version. But it wasn't clear to me, how to start it. After unpacking two archives I found an index.html which finally allowed me to play the game :)

The graphics and animations are certainly the game's strong suit. The music would fit the mood, if it weren't so horribly distorted (could be a problem on my end?). I was missing sound effects when shooting/jumping/killing enemies. The gameplay felt pretty bland. I had a bug where I was only able to shoot to the right, which made it actually more exciting. I stopped after wave 10 since nothing new was happening.

I like the fact that the shop is selling bibles alongside weapons, though. Again, kudos to whoever made that outstanding art.

@ klianc09 I'm sorry man, it's just very difficult for three days to fix all bugs and make "as you want." But we will continue to work on the game, add new content and fix bugs. I'm very glad that you noticed the bible near arms, it was a bet.))))

It looked sweet. It was sometimes pretty hard to distinguish the enemies from the background. A lighter border on the sprites would obviously help here but dunno if that would mess up the art style you were going for too much. The UI didn't really fit in with the rest of the art design.

Arrow keys seemed to work as well as WASD but they played no animation while moving. Separate jump button (space) and manual reload button would have been nice.

Music was also awesome. Very dark, moody, action packed lo-wi piece which kept me on my toes. Felt like quite a lot of sounds effects were missing. Was the shooting sound actually the only one? Would have been easier to keep track of whats going on if the following actions had sounds: click on empty clip, reload, jump, getting hit, enemy deaths (so yeah, pretty much everything).

Not sure if I was actually using the shop between rounds. I clicked on the buy button on it and felt like I got energy. The button should give some audio/effect feedback if thats how it worked. And always kept losing one bullet due to the buy button disappearing and me shooting. What currency were you even using on the shop anyway? I think there were too few (ammo) pickups. Or at least until on like my 5th try, I noticed that there actually were different weapons you could use. And the ammo count on the UI did not update on pickup either (before you tried to shoot) which was confusing.

edit: Oh yeah, one more thing. Managed to glitch out of the map once on the bottom floor, left corner. Couldn't manage to get a screenshot in time because ran out of energy soon after.

I really loved the animation and pixel art! I thought the mechanic was quite unique, having to stand in a beam of light to restore your power.

Gameplay wise, some of the collisions didn't seem crisp, but generally it worked well enough, it's hard to get these things right in three days. I didn't understand how to restore my ammo and what the pickups were for though. Were the pickups ammo? I only saw the lightning pickup. It didn't seem to restore my pistol rounds, and I had to use my sword most of the time.

Anyway, good job, and hope to play your entry in the next LD!

Fun and overall solid experience, i really dig this game !

**Positive stuff :**
- The Graphics in general, great spritework and art direction
- The Music, the industrial like theme sounded great, it really had a kind of Quake 1 vibe to it
- The tight and fast paced gameplay

**Negative stuff :**
- The small ammo pickups spawning in the map are a bit hard to see, at first i didn't even know you had ammo spawning outside of buying it at the shop (maybe having a bigger sprite or outlining it more to help it stand out)
- Too bad you didn't have the time to implement the full on shop you planned :(

Honestly the issues are really not that much, it was easy to pickup and play, and challenging just enough to battle these enemies and managing the energy bar

Overall great job guys i had a blast fighting off cyberdemons :D !

Definitely a cool idea for a game! The execution was very good, however I think that the ammo from the shop possibly costs too much. I found myself running out of ammo a lot. Apparently there are pick ups but I didn't see any unfortunately. The shop is a good idea though, the time in between waves could probably be a bit longer as well. Maybe make it so that the break is not timed and the player can start the next wave by pressing a button or something? All in all though a good game!
