Running Power

RunningOutOFPower3.gif

Game

"Running Power" Is a basic take on the "Running out of Power" Theme of LD39 and was made in ~8 hours. The aim of the game is to survive as long as possible whilst collecting energy. When you run out of energy you can no longer jump until you collect more!

Jumping power is modified by the total energy you have stored, so the more energy you have, the more efficient your Height/Energy cost ratio. The screen dims based on how much energy you have stored, when you are out of energy you are in darkness and begin to lose health.

Your total score is your survival time multiplied by the total energy you collect.

Control

LMB - Jump

It took me a couple of tries to get a hang of it. I like that it (generated? or just really long map? Not sure) feels like an endless challenge for as long as you can survive, very cool. Always a good thing to add a score counter, appreciate that. Took me a couple of tried to figure out what gives and what takes the HP away and such but overall very cool and fun game to play. Definitely enjoyed. Good job :D

Would of prefered a few more in game instructions, i get the restriction on time but a quick prompt here or there really helps round out a Jam game, maybe an explanation of what each of the colours can do

also i wasn't able to have the whole game on my screen at one time due to its size

The obstacles are a bit annoying but it's a cool simple game.

I enjoyed it, it took a small learning curve. The sounds weren't really distinctive enough for me to feel the power-ups were much different than the power downs.

Not a big fan of infinite runners but the lighting effects working with the speed was pretty cool.

Cool game, took a while to figure out what each symbol did but I enjoyed playing it.

Survival time: 342.97
Total Power Collected: 2423
Total Score: 831024.90

Game was ok, followed the theme quite well.
I didn't like the sound, it only took me longer to figure out what pickups were bad and which were good since most of the sounds made me think I did something bad

Nicely done in such a short amount of time. I kinda wish movement was more responsive or snappy by increasing gravity, though.

Nice game, the theme hit the spot, just shame the movement is "interesting" to say at least

That was actually fun, I find the mechanics blend well with the theme. Like when you ran out of power, you'll lose most of the hp.

A good game with some nice mechanics, but I think it would play better if you increased the speed.

Nice concept, I didn't really understand what all the symbol did, but I think the yellow one are the best :D

Interesting infinite collection game. Wasn't really sure what the different shapes did, if I should have collected the or avoided them.
