Expand Your World by Ovidios

[raw]
made by Ovidios for LD 38 (COMPO)

banner_name.png

In "Expand Your World" you free your small world from the darkness and expand it by interacting with objects of the world in an adventure-game-esque way.

There's also a platforming part.

Oops: I left in my little cheats... Keys 1 through 5 and enter can be used to unlock certain parts of the world (or everything in the case of enter)

I liked it. The idea is cute, and I think there is a lot you could do with this. I wasn't able to get past the part with the spiky monsters. I don't know if the platforming was too hard for me or if I was missing a puzzle, but overall, good job!

What a lovely little world!! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation [video series](https://youtu.be/kvZnj9d9GIA), if you’d like to take a look :)

Love it. Good job - make it grow, this has potential for a bigger game :)

Cute little world! But I think there's a problem with taking axe. Or I'm just dumb :D Anyway I have no idea how to do that :D

I love the idea of this, it's such a shame that it's pretty short.

I think the little main character sprite is very cute, almost reminds me of pikmin.

With some relaxing music and more content, this could be an incredibly good time.

Nice art and sfx. Growing the world gives you a sense of achievement. Just feel like a unified theme connecting all the tasks is missing (currently they look like just several different puzzles arbitrarily put together). Controls is a little hard. I picked up the axe but not sure how to use it. Then I dropped it at the spiky floor and had no idea what to do.

Very nice art, music and theme. Unique and well executed, a fantastic game. I would say that the game would be better if the controls and collision with the ladders especially are better.

Phew, the axe-party was reeally! difficult :D The idea is super awesome, and I especially adore the art/level design. I like these small world with a lot of different stuff in them.
I guess you can improve on movement and platform controls, but you should totally do a post-jam version! There is a lot of potential to this idea :)

What can I say? I loved this game so much! The concept itself which is so simple yet so innovative, loved the level design, the mechanics and puzzle-solvineg, the graphics look excellent and the sound fx was really good too, even though it was just one it fit so well with the whole game. My only complaints would be:

1) If this had any music it would have been perfect! But I do understand that since this was a compo entry you either didn't have much time to do that or simply didn't know too much of how to produce music.

2) If it had been a bit longer, maybe at least 5+ more puzzles it would have made it even more addictive and with a lot more of replay value.

But that said, I still think this has been so far the best game I've played for this LD. Congrats and keep coming with more games mate!

I liked the feel for this game. It made me want to play with it until I beat it. Although I did find a rather nasty scenario where you would fall off the windmill tower before starting the furnace. I had to restart at that point. Good job!

Great game! Awesome idea of expanding the world. The background at the start of the game is quite annoying my eyes..

I feel like the puzzles need to be a bit more puzzley, having to use one of the old items may of been a cool way of adding a bit more to the game, but overall not to bad. (The graphic effects look really nice!)

I really liked the feel of that small world, had a pretty hard time with the jumping course. Looks cute, keep it up.

Was cool, reminded me a bit of the dizzy games, very retro computery.
I go in to more detail in this video.

Loved the idea and visual style. The platforming was a bit floaty and uncontrollable at points. The player also moved a little too quick, which might have escalated the problem. Overall nice entry!
