Great job!
Nice work :)
Feel free to check out our game : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/bubblenaut
Have a nice day :)
The soundtrack could hold the player's attention a little more.
Loved the smart thinking into this mechanic, good job! ;D
What I liked:
* Graphics are really nice. They did a great job of helping me jump right into the game and understand what to do.
* Music was upbeat and cheerful, and suited the game well.
* Controls were very simple and easy to learn.
* The mood of this game felt great. I'm surprised to see you opted not to receive ratings on it.
What I didn't like:
* Gameplay loop was a little too stressful and mixed to be fun. I always felt like I was in a loosing battle with one or multiple resources until I hit max food. Then, the population grew too fast and I just won. Also, just roating the planet wasn't too fun.
* Random meteor placement made the game trivial at times or extremely hard at others with no way to affect it.
* Metor hitting water or farms = instant death. Meteor hitting city = survive unless under 1/2 population. Interesting mechanic that seemed random and inconsistent with the rest of the game. Also made my experience feel needlessly fragile and that increased the stress level.
Nice job on your entry, and good luck!
Death screens are nice, so is victory screen. Fits theme very well.
Few points I have:
- as the concept is simple, it is somewhat very easy and fast to finish the game, yeah I'm complaining for it being too short (not really taken into account while voting - as this is a compo/jam game, not retail with tons of time to finish)
- while I personally liked controls, I just wanted to take some gyroscopic controller and use that instead ... in my opinion such controls would be more suited, although decreasing people who would try it indeed
- too much text in the menu, I got too confused about the buttons and text everywhere... I know menu is the last item everyone implements on Ludum Dare, but you deserve credits screen ;)
In the summary, it is polished and I enjoyed playing it.
I don't know if it was intentional, but if I keep the montains sunny, the resources won't go down. You can keep it like that forever, as long as no meteor comes. Also, it would be good to tell the player the population would go up when the food is maxed out - I didn't know that at first, so I was just managing the planet, trying to keep everything stable.
PS: BR aqui! HUE
This was very solid, the best of this genre of games I've seen in the Jam so far. I don't think I had any real criticism and enjoyed myself with it.
