The music was a nice loop, a little repetitive, but it set the tone well. I wasn't sure about the implementation. Once you stop music you can't start it again, it seems, and if you lose and start again multiple music tracks are played at once. It was a bit odd. Sound effects would have been nice.
The graphics were ok, nothing special. Icons were well-designed. Could have used more detail for example in the backgrounds.
While exploring the endings was fun, I'm not sure what the actual goal of the game was. Managing a planet is a means, not an objective. Did I want it to survive as long as possible? If so could I see how many turns my planet has survived somehow please? As a game I wasn't sure what I was doing. As a toy it was odd too because every outcome seemed so negative!
Overall an interesting idea and take on the theme. I liked the humor and the variety of options, but wish there was more of a clear objective or set of objectives to aim for. Good job!
As an improvement, not giving all the options all the time could spice it up a bit (each turn you get only X options, and you gotta try to keep everything balanced).
All in all, Great Job! Keep up the good work!
It would be great if you add events out of your control (like a randoö double effect on action).
Love it !
@kasarun Thanks, I really appreciated your comment, yes I think I'll make a post compo version with some random and out of control effects along some other stuffs I didn't manage to get in like more unique planet features and maybe a more complex winning/losing condition system
Overall though, I did like the game. The concepts that were there were well done and the writing was pretty good!
I liked the failed planet attempts - quite funny. And also the introduction was sudden but I liked the approach of starting in media res right after another failed attempt :)
Music was nice but got repetitive after a while. I did not encounter the multiple music track playing bug that some people reported.
I like the humor, for example how you get a custom message if you destroy the world immediately. The planet generation is fun, choosing some parameters makes the world feel more like it's yours. This could be expanded some more, with a couple more options for extra customization.
The gameplay itself is fun at first but is quite repetitive and doesn't have any obvious goal. You just mess around with the various actions and read the messages you get when you inevitably screw up. To be a game that you can play more than a couple of minutes it needs to be fleshed out with more feedback and reactions to what you do.
The music is very repetitive but I still like it in some quirky way.
Overall, a nice little game with potential!
just kidding :)
surprisingly fun little game to poke around at.
Loved the humor!
@connor-mcgrory I'll probably add that in a future version, I really like the idea, but I want to do something special with that :P
Obviously the game wasn't that visually appealing and the sounds are quite basic, but the amount of detail you put into each message was great. I actually laughed when the game thought I was strange for breaking the weapons and then starting a war.
The different civilizations were a nice touch. Though I would have loved a boiling pot based civilization.
Overall, I thought this was a really good effort and is definitely worth playing.
I was happy to see that it will mock you for trying to make worlds that, by all means, shouldn't have life. I've actually grown a pet peeve for inexplicable life everywhere in sci-fi after spending far too long researching real space stuff.
Wasn't sure if there was a victory condition, but I spent some time trying to get everything to max without losing. Didn't ever succeed. Still, definitely a neat idea.
