Appart from that graphics and controls feel good so far, even so in my opinion the combination of low resolution pixel art and free rotation always looks a little glitchy.
Anyway, good job and thanks for the contribution.
Nice concept, I liked the small simple pixel art and the concept overall. Definitely could use some difficulty balancing and extra stuff to add to the gameplay.
Also it would be helpful if you left the instruction screen up until the player presses a button, it vanished before I was done reading...
First of all, I love the presentation of the game. Knowing that it's a donut, I expected to see my buildings after going through the whole place, and I was pleasantly surprised when I did. The sounds are alright, and it's all fitting thematically.
The gameplay follows a simple, yet effective loop. Kill the enemies, get more gold, kill more, and so on until you either buy the next upgrade or destroy the next hive. The problem comes with the balancing though. The spikes not only were harsh, but felt unfair:
- At one point, I left the game amassing money just so I could spam enough turrets to kill the cluster of enemies. The ones with guns cut through my defenses with little to no effort.
- I eventually just decided to zoom out (it's always a nice touch when a game has a zooming in and out option) and shoot at the hives from afar. It felt boring and anticlimatic, but it was effective.
Disregarding those problems, I had a blast with this game. Further expansions with more buildings, enemies, and better balance could be something worth revisiting. Nice job!
We, [Whales and Games](https://twitter.com/WhalesAndGames), like following other people that also participated in the LDJam (just like us!), so, if you happen to have a Twitter account, please share it. It'd be cool to be able to see what you can come up with in the future! :whale:
I love the gameplay, it's a really interesting take on tower defense games and I'd love to play more!
I know i'm not a good balancer.
