Shrinking Ceiling by drikdrok
A simple platformer where being quick is needed to survive.
With 25 Levels!

This was my second Ludum Dare! This time around I had more fun, probably because I settled on making a simpler and less ambitious game.
I finished with 8,5 hours of the jam left, even though I started off with an entirely different idea, that I scrapped after 3 hours of work. So I'm very happy with the result
Here's a timelapse of the making of the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMbp-S3_46E And since I see a couple people struggling, I've made a video of me completing the game. Hopefully it might be useful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UK6o1qk-bIE

An alternative key to space would be good, as my keyboard won't let me press two cursor keys plus space.
And it's really mean to have to do it all over again, when you die :)
Solid little game!
I like how you introduce each mechanic one by one and then use these mechanics in many different ways, your game basically has a build in tutorial, and that's great for all games but specially for Ludum Dare entries.
I also recorded some gameplay so that you can see your game in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXG03lKcWc8&
Great entry!
Great job though! :)
What I would like to improve:
- Frustrating to have to restart from the beginning after death. Would like to continue on the curent level.
- Large step but anyway... Add some graphics, would like to have visual feedback on running, jumping and wall jumping to improve the controls.
-Use the arrows or letters to move, not only letters, because for some people (like me) using two hands to play gives more sensation of control than doing all with only one.
-In the jump, it will be much better if you can control the height of the jump depending on the time you press the space key, because this game is a rouge like, and its frustrating when you are on high levels, and losing just because you cant control the height of the jump, because lots of times just doing a small jump you can win. And if this is not possible, you can just add two difficulty modes, the hard mode, that it's restarting from the first level when you lose, and the normal mode, where you have checkpoints to restart from when you die.
But I really liked the game!! Keep on it!
Though I really did like your overall concept and though it fit the theme very well! I didn't particularly like how the gray ceiling continued it's progress throughout most of the levels. I think it is an interesting idea but it meant that you needed to have perfect platforming on levels leading up to a tough one so you would have enough time to reach the end.
Art and sound are simple but effective.
One other thing I think can be improved is the control scheme. I prefer to play 2D platformers with the arrow keys and the up (or W) key to be my jump button. Putting the jump button on the space bar seemed to make it a bit more tough for me to execute the quick platforming maneuvers you need to make to beat the game. Would be nice to have the option to choose the controls you prefer.
Overall I did enjoy my time with the game and I watched your playthrough to see what I missed out on (definitely too tough for me to beat). Congratulations on making a complete game in the short amount of time that you did!!
As a professional game dev I would suggest... just kidding haha
Nonetheless, if you want to work on this project more I suggest making a difficulty incresing algorithm.
Graphics - very nice. Controls are also working very well.
Maybe you could also take a glimpse at my game? I already enlarged it into a wholesome Android game :)
