Those without an offering wander the shores for eternity, hoping one day to find charity. \n\n\nIn Coins for the Ferrier, you take on the role of a similar boatswain ferrying souls across the river. You, however, know everything about the souls that come to your shores, and as the boat advances to the soul's final destination, it is up to you to recite their deeds so that Mnemosyne, goddess of memory, may remember them. \n\n\nYou, unlike Charon, decide where each soul goes and why. Do you carry heroes into Elysium or villains into Tartarus? Perhaps your souls are ordinary souls who simply want to forget their life and frolic in Asphodel? You become their life's judge, and for the service they pay you a single silver coin. \n\n\n=====GAMEPLAY=====\n\nCoins for the Ferrier is driven by the mouse, and many times the game will ask you to type something in order to move on. Hovering over any button should display a line at the bottom so you're sure that you're clicking on what you want. When you're asked a question, you'll have 1000 characters to type the answer. The text will start out large, but shrink as needed. There is a button for clearing the text. It doesn't ask you to confirm, so be careful! \n\n\nWhen you reach a shore, you will be asked to name the soul. Naming the soul is optional and will save what you wrote to a file. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, I was unable to implement a mechanic that used coins to recall a soul. The files are somewhat readable, but aren't meant to be (they're binary files, but text comes through alright). They're located at [your persistantDataPath as described here](https:\/\/docs.unity3d.com\/ScriptReference\/Application-persistentDataPath.html). The souls are not saved for WebGL (sorry!), but on any platform your coins should be saved between sessions!\n\n\n**I don't recommend the WebGL version** for the above reason, and because it runs a little slower, but it's easier to close. On a standalone build, you must continue until you've delivered a soul to return to the title screen. I usually make it easier to close a game, but I ran out of time.\n\n\n=====TOOLS=====\n\n**Engine:** Unity 2018.3.11f1 \n\n**Audio:** LMMS, Audacity, and my phone for recording water \n\n**Samples:** [DSK Music](https:\/\/www.dskmusic.com\/) (seriously good VST stuff!) \n\n**Art:** Paint.NET \n\n**Modeling:** Blender (aka Cloth Simulator 2000) \n\n**Font:** PTMono via Google Fonts \n\n=====MEDIA=====\n\n![coins_02.png](\/\/\/raw\/297\/z\/2153b.png)\n\n![coins_03.png](\/\/\/raw\/297\/z\/2153d.png)\n\n![coins_04.png](\/\/\/raw\/297\/z\/2153e.png)\n\n","meta":{"author":[1938],"link-01":"http:\/\/incobalt.me\/Games\/Ferrier\/Coins_Source.zip","link-01-tag":"50","link-02":"http:\/\/incobalt.me\/Games\/Ferrier\/game.html","link-02-tag":"42336","link-03":"http:\/\/incobalt.me\/Games\/Ferrier\/Coins_Win_64.zip","link-03-tag":"42337","link-03-name":"Windows (64-bit)","link-04":"http:\/\/incobalt.me\/Games\/Ferrier\/Coins_Win_32.zip","link-04-tag":"42337","link-04-name":"Windows (32-bit)","link-05":"http:\/\/incobalt.me\/Games\/Ferrier\/Coins_Mac_OS.zip","link-05-tag":"42339","allow-anonymous-comments":"1","cover":"\/\/\/content\/297\/z\/21538.png"},"path":"\/events\/ludum-dare\/44\/coins-for-the-ferrier","parents":[1,5,9,139254],"love":0,"notes":2,"notes-timestamp":"2019-05-04T10:29:40Z","grade":{"grade-01":2,"grade-02":2,"grade-03":2,"grade-04":2,"grade-05":2,"grade-06":1,"grade-07":1,"grade-08":2},"magic":{"cool":0,"feedback":0,"given":0,"grade":1.75,"smart":-24.407105398155}},"text":"![Coins_01_5x4.png](\/\/\/raw\/297\/z\/21552.png)\n\n=====PREMISE=====\n\nFor the simple cost of a silver coin, Charon ferries the dead to their final resting place in the underworld.
