Nice job, it's entertaining and convey a message to whom want to hear, the strategic part of the soil was a clever move.

Pretty good! As @sadsmile said, came for the whale and stayed for the cool gameplay. Good mechanic and use of the theme. The difficulty was a little bit too high, I wish it started slower. But overall great!

Cool game! Loved the graphics and gameplay idea. Because of the ground colour I quickly understood where to place the tiles and the animals/plants look so cute. This game could be easily made into a mobile game :)
I'm addicted

Instruction very clear, the design make it intuitive and you understand the gameplay in seconds. But maybe a warmup level will would be appreciated.

cute graphics but pretty stressful though.

Is the algorithm of tile spawning made so you can never have a whale falling ? i looks like it's too randomized and you can have only Animals for a long streak, but perhaps my strategy was suboptimal

I also like the snapping effect

Thank you very much for all these compliments = D

@tontonpizza I'm sorry, the algorithm of tile spawning is really simple and each tile has a 25% chance to spawn. It's a good idea to have an "adaptability golden path of spawing ", I hope I'll get enough skill to code it

Ahhh! Woooh! What’s happening? Who am I? Why am I here? What’s my purpose in life? What do I mean by who am I? :whale2:

Great choice of music for this game. I found myself laughing at the whales! What's the high score? It seems like a quick play, but it definitely has replay value. Great work overall!!

Really solid entry! Brilliant artwork and I definitely found myself running out of space, it does seem to escalate rather quickly and you don't get much breathing space once the first whale slips through the net which made it very difficult!

Got 810! Very fun and easy to pickup. The previous-tile-type mechanic is really clever!

Very well polished with smart mechanics requiring both fast reactions and quick thinking. Possibly the best LD42 game so far, making perfect use of the theme!

Love the HHGTTG reference =)

Nice game mechanics. Easy to understand and play. The clean graphics and smooth soundtrack improves the experience as well.

Shoutout for making a HTML5 version! Easy up the game setup for the player nicely.

Excellent job.

Nice game. Really liked the graphics and music!
One issue I had though was I couldn't really tell if I put the wrong type on the wrong tile at all. Or maybe I just suck at the game

Simple and solid and fun to play. But i think it could be a bit more enjoyable at slower whale spawn rate, but nevertheless it's a great entry!

I love the animal models and music choice. With this gameplay speed I wish I could place the tiles more accurate  Sometimes it just doesn't stick properly.

Here is my playtest: :turkey:

Cute use of music and art. I really like the hitchhikers reference with the falling whale. Never felt like I could ever last beyond on a certain point and with such limited space I was only ever able to get X certain score. Would have been great if I could better control what tiles I get so I could maximize my yield.

@sadsmile: couldn't have said it better.

Great to see other games with references to the Hitchhiker's Guide.
Awesome graphics, and the music and sound helps the mood. I find gameplay a bit too stressful to actually plan my moves, I had to be as fast as possible to avoid the whale.

Also, I noticed that placement of tiles oft didn't accept my mouse position, and I lost tiles due to that. It seems you have to have the tile pretty exactly aligned to have it planted. I personally would like to have to position of the mouse pointer when you release the mouse button considered.

Very solid game! Graphics are great and the gameplay is innovative. I also liked the in-game tutorial, which looks just as good as the rest of the game and explains everything in good detail. Can't even think of any suggestions for improvements, good job!

Very fun game! the best I got was 530. It was pretty addictive and I've played quite a few times! :)

Would be awesome if there was more incentive to keep playing, e.g. set points where you get new types of tiles or even just a high score table.

This is a cool little game, a bit too fast paced for me though. Love the cute art style!

I like how you color coded the tile with green and brown, made it easy to spot which tile will grant bonus to animals/plants without thinking too much.

Most of the time my focus is in the middle of the screen when placing the tile. Also sometimes, the time run out while you are in the middle of dragging the tile. Would love to see some visual feedback when the timer is running out. maybe bounce the tile, or tint it red?

@steffanie Currently the highest score we heard about is 2270 (and it is absolutely not me)

@outterest Yes sorry we tried to give feedbacks on it (tiles have the colour corresponding to their bonuses, and normally there's a green fx if you get the bonus and a red fx if you get a panalty), maybe we should accentuate it more. We'd also love to have an animated tutorial the first seconds of the game to explain it more clearly (for the moment you still have to clic on the tutorial).

@wowa Yes I totally agree, we'd like to have an increasing pace, maybe also a countdown at the beginning. This is our priority number one if we can find some time to make a version 2 :)

@icxon and @mshopf We heard about this problem several times, and it is also planned for a version 2, as the problem is in fact ALREADY corrected, as "somebody" seems to have forgotten to reactivate the script before building... "oops" he said ^^'
@icxon And many thanks for the video!!

@matank Yeah we had several ideas we would have loved to put in our jam entry, but we had to make it in the jam time. But later adding tiles types would totally be possible, and we also had the idea to put stuff like seasons and special events affecting the tiles types and grow speed for example :D

@mochakingup Yes this is why we'd like to increase the pace over time. Adding a "running out of time feedback" is a great idea!

Really fun game, clever idea! It completely fits the theme :)

The only thing, I had a "bug", I couldn't drag some parts anymore sometimes, I don't know why :/

In any case, good job !! Love the mood and aesthetics :)

Amazing game! The rules are elegant, with room for strategy and a high skill ceiling. That's *really* impressive. The graphics and sounds/music are also well designed. The pacing is a bit fast in the beginning, but once I got used to it I was completely absorbed.

I sometimes had trouble placing the tiles correctly (or at all), which is annoying when every split second counts.

I have a feeling that I'll still be playing this game a few months from now :)

fun and frantic! there were moments where it seemed like i was trying to grab a piece and because a whale was dropping it cancelled the action. would be cool if you could get a move in and somehow cancel the whale if you were fast enough... otherwise awesome!

I got over 1000 points!

I literally went WTF when I saw a whale falling out of the sky despite having seen it in the cover. That was funny.

There's one thing to make the game better is the Whale Timer should be stopped when the player clicks on a tile. It's infuriating when what you're dragging just disappear into thin air.

Nice game overall!
