Astro-Bastard Drunken Rampage by Zarkith

[raw]
made by Zarkith for LD 38 (JAM)

As is Ludum Dare tradition, we were too ambitious and only ended up creating a fraction of what we intended to. But hey, at least it's technically playable!

Cool concept! I liked the game mechanics of destroying buildings, but I wish I saw my spaceship parts more. When I was first playing, I didn't realize that was the objective and I couldn't see the parts well.

Otherwise a great game!

When I played the game, I too didn't even notice the space parts and instead thought the goal was to destroy everything. However, I think it was fun and I enjoyed the graphics and had a laugh. Good game!

Nice game! I think the character should be able to run on ground. Also, the collision with the ground has a problem. I passed through the ground twice. The first time was when I tried to get out of the ocean, and the second when I stepped in the building.

I'm more call that a task than a challenge but... Yeah! It was still enjoyable!

There are a lot of things I really like about this game even though it's not quite done. I really like the look of the main character. You did a great job on his movements and animations. I also really like how cute the City buildings are. The music is great too! I also think the title is quite funny! :D Here are the thing I think you can improve. The controlls seem to queue up for a long time after you've released a direction key, you keep moving in that same direction for a while. Maybe you planned to add this, but I think it would be so funny if the inhabitants of the world get mad when you destroy their towns and start attacking you with tiny tanks and planes. I think this game has a lot of potential!

Really fun :) I enjoyed smashing all of this small world ! A counter or something to keep track of the parts we collected would help having a sense of progression. You made a really fun game :)

@caramelcode Keep moving for how long of a while? I didn't add any code to queue input, so that shouldn't happen for more than a frame. Maybe it's the animations are making it seem like it lasts longer?

Yeah, the plan was to have tiny inhabitants attack you, but of course time ran out. If we get around to making a Post-Jam version, that'll be in it for sure.

It was fun jumping about stomping on this world, the graphics were quite nice, and the controls were easy to figure out.

Was that a beer hat/helmet on the guy's head? It looked like one. Nice!

The premise of the game is interesting, but I think that it could benefit from some sort of challenge, like a countdown timer. Without a lose scenario, the game felt kind of pointless. The destruction was really fun though!

I love the name and concept of the game. The character and animations are very nice, impressive!
I spent some time stomping the planet, but there is not much of a challenge/choice/variety to it, making it more a game to watch than to actually play.
Some ideas:
- stompy sounds and destroy sounds would really make it more EVIL
- some kind of choice, for example need to destroy fast enough otherwise die etc

He has a beer hat, so yeah, clear win

The main concept is interesting, but it's not so fun to play in the long term. Game has lack of features/achevements for destruction/etc

I really like the look of the game, good job with the graphics and the models! I think a HUD that tells you your progress would help.

PS. good music :D

Good job, I also really liked the look and feel of the game. It could have used goals or direction and it was a little buggy. Otherwise nice!

I feel like the game would be more fun if there were some sort of scoring function. Maybe the amount of buildings destroyed minus the amount of time? It's a good concept, but I feel like I need more incentive to complete the objective of the game.

The music was well-done, but a little repetitive. Maybe it would have worked better if it were broken up by sound effects (I.E. breaking things, blasting off) and had different verses, a chorus, and/or a bridge, instead of just the same looping section.

Nice art!~ Eliminated all the buildings in the end. The level could be more challenging, such as adding military fightback or the city gonna keep rebuilding itself. Overall is a cool game!~

Definitely needed more to be a bit more like a game but the graphics are nice

The goal was not clear, I was wondering if the game will finish or not.
Very nice graphics and sound.
You should add the story inside the game. For exemple "I need to repair my ship" , "I have got to find the spare parts" , "I will destroy this to repair my ship".
