Nine Lives by sudojess
Nine Lives is a relatively dark game about a Cat that just wants to help people. There are 11 different endings
It was made in 72 hours for Ludum Dare 44.
Arrow keys or WASD to walk
A/Alt to interact
There is an optional download for a GB rom. This should work on a real gameboy, as well as most emulators
Credit to Chris Maltby for GB Studio
Jessica Winters for the overworld tileset and programming
Rachel Franklin for the Actor sprites, animations, other tileset work and writing!

For some reason ludum dare won't let me post my game link in the proper place. You can play it here

the graphics are beautiful and the cat's perspective on a world that could be independent of it is a fantastic setting.
things on the technical side:
- grid based movement would feel nicer, but this isn't a big deal :)
- with concurrent text popups, the window disappearing felt like the end of the text sequence even though there was more to come
- on firefox, there's a 'click' when the audio initialises. maybe since there's no sound you could disable the audio entirely? this is probably a GB Studio thing though
well done on a great game with so much content!
Also really liked the digitised photos on cutscenes and the title, they look great at a low resolution. Good job!
I'm excited to see gbstudio entries starting to show up in Ludum Dare! I've made a few retro games with my own tools, but GBStudio seems like it opens up a whole bunch of new doors.
Will check back later!
EDIT: Should be fixed now! But I've kept the link in the description just incase
Always glad to see more retro games in the jam!
Did a jam game just make me cry?
Beautiful work, as always.
Also, I had a look at GB studio after checking another game boy entry, so I knew what the framework already provides and could appreciate the variety of the content.
