Brick by Brick by JoshCanProgram
Brick by brick is an arcade style shooter. Your bullets create more bricks on the wall if they miss the enemies, causing less space the more you play. Be on the lookout for health packs, energy packs, and bombs (to remove bricks). Try to last as long as you can and get the highest score!
KNOWN BUGS: - On very rare occasion, bombs won't explode, I honestly don't know why this happens at the moment. - It's possible to trap yourself, however you mostly have to be trying to for this to happen. - Brick mechanics are not perfect. so it is very much possible to glitch yourself out of the map :D - you move slowly for a little bit when entering a 1x1 area. [just a collider sizing bug, will be fixed very soon] - in the shop, the storekeeper's text overlaps the stat windows.
- it is NOT a bug that at times a brick appears where you kill an enemy. This is a feature in the game. There is a 5% chance that this will occur causing more of a challenge and less space.
CONTROLS: - WASD to move - Arrow keys to shoot - Q to drop bomb - ESC to pause

I'm really happy with how this turned out. I'm motivated to turn it into a full game with levels, bosses, special items, maybe a worldwide leaderboard. let me know what you think it needs in the comments.

I love this game. You're rewarding accurate players, but also creating interesting situations from the walls that are placed when you miss. You can opt to only shoot the enemies, or create a strategic fort where you can take them on in bite-sized chunks. What I really like about this game is the fun and interesting situations that your mistakes can create, and the subtle ways you are pushed to perform better. There's a dynamic in the core gameplay that keeps me strategizing. I'm captivated by the simplicity.
There are naturally areas where this game can be improved, but this game is absolutely one of my favourites this jam.
I wasn't sure why some shots would turn into wall tiles when I shot the enemies, though. Was there something triggering that to happen?
If you were to add a couple more enemy types, and maybe some weapon variety, this game has a lot of potential! Great entry, overall.
I'd like to see this expanded into a full-blown game. More enemies, more weapons... maybe different level layouts? I feel like it has a lot of potential.
