Leucos by Harry Alissavakis

Is there a smaller world than the one inside our bodies??? Yes, actually, lots. But Leucos is set inside our bodies. Deal with it. It features a cute little leucocyte named "Leucos" that tries to save a human's insides from infections in a terribly inaccurate representation of the way an immune system works! How many waves of these vicious enemies can you wipe?

I think the artstyle is really good and the player is controlling very smoothly. It's fun to play and you did a really good job with the game.
A few things I noticed:
1) I had phases where next to nothing spawned and I just ran around aimlessly. Then something spawned on the other end of the map and I got hit constantly until I could get there. That felt pretty unfair.
2) The SFX are a bit too loud and the music is a bit annoying after a while.
3) The 'Wave' text is flashing so quickly that you can easily miss it if you blink.
Other than that I really like your game.
Only bad thing for me, was camera movement, because enemies could get behing my back, and I wouldn't see them until too late
@zelos I'm afraid I know what you mean with the enemy spawning, because the spawners are randomly placed I didn't have the time to make sure that it always worked out. And the wave text thing was a bug that I was in no position to solve at the time. But thank you for taking the time to play it and I'm glad that you otherwise liked it!
The camera was indeed one of my greatest issues and I had already lost too much time tweaking it. Nevertheless, thanks to both for your nice comments and feedback!
Overall for a compo game especially, I just thought it was great and a lot of fun.
Also I did not notice the bottom platforms at the beginning due to cam angle. But I don't think that you should change it, just maybe a quick zoom out / zoom in between the waves to give an overall view on all the platforms.
Game feels consistent in term of art, style, humor and gameplay.

I was missing a bit of challenge and I kinda felt cheated when I felt of the platform and just died because it was going so well :/
Really nice entry, the music is also spot on :)
REVIEW
=====================================
-Gameplay
It was really solid, and fit really well. It was not just good to play, but fun (yes there is a difference to me) The gameplay was really well executed, and had me coming for more over and over. It was really interesting running around with all the blood cells, trying to save whoever's body I was in xD The gameplay had a certain level of depth to it with the powerups and such.
-Innovation:
The idea itself was very solid. Theme was small world, and we were inside a person, in the microscopic level saving them. Very well put together. The gameplay itself was just the normal shoot em up style, but still put together well
-Theme
As said above, it fit the theme pretty well.
-Audio
This part was not shabby at all! The overall SFX and music were very nice additions.
OVERALL
=====================================
If you add more content and polish, I'm pretty sure you could go places with this game. Overall it was a nice shoot em up style game that had held its title by being cool in its ideas. (idk if that sounds right)
I loved the models and their little changing faces when they got shot! Right from the get go from the menu (lovely) to the main game I was smiling.
I liked the little touches as well, like when firing it pushes your character back a bit. All adds to the polish feeling I got from playing this game.
Sound effects were nice, and the visual effects of exploding cells was also great.
A lot of fun, and very impressive!
Thanks for creating and sharing.
I didn't have issues with spawn rates or anything. The difficulty grew as I got to later levels. It seemed to work quite well.
It would have been really nice to have a way to regain health for your heart - maybe just another pickup or something. Also, trapping the mouse would have been good. I got knocked out of the game 3-4 times because I clicked outside the unity window. (I use 3 monitors on my desktop, so that's why) That said, this didn't hurt my enjoyment of the game.
Well done; thanks for a fun game!
I think with these kinds of games where you have waves, it's better for it to be more challenging than too easy. I felt like a lot of the earlier waves were very straightforward and very hard to lose. What kept me going was just watching the cool enemies/animations/particle effects.
One thought that occurred to me: it would be nice if I could move the camera since at first it seemed like more enemies were coming from the south. I think there's probably a lot you could do with the camera. You could keep it fixed and have it rotate by 45 degrees each wave, to kind of focus the player attention to a new perspective/area of the arena, so it feels fresh and changes things a little bit. Just an idea!
I actually liked the camera angle, it has a cinematic feel but it does leave you at a bit of a disadvantage to enemies coming from the lower right.
I think all of my deaths were due to falling off of platforms because I was shooting in midair and got knocked back by recoil. But that was just me being dumb. Still had plenty of fun with this!

But in any case it was a fun game, and I enjoyed resisting for as long as could.
Nice job!

One tip for you... (Made the same mistake - And it's regarding the ldjam game page not your game)
If you write comments on your own page this results in wrong counting on the "feedback friends" as far as I know. But as I see now you have a lot of comments and ratings anyway.
I only stopped playing because I'm playing and rating at work :D
Really impressed by the level of polish and mechanics you got in for 48 hours.
Not sure if it's worth pursuing for further development since it will end up being "just another shooter", but maybe I'm being a little too pessimistic now
Art was on point, music kept me on edge and the blast sounds were satisfying (maybe a little more base to increase impact, but that's a minor detail).
Overall, really nice and fun game!
The camera didn't really work well for me though, sometimes diseases were hard to spot because they were behind the heart, and I felt that the diseases that came from beneath were too close already when they appeared on the screen.
Overall a very nice, funny and well polished game. Great work!
Otherwise, its very good game, very polished with nice graphics, good work ;)
The graphics are nice, even though everything is red; it doesnt really clash. Nice wave system and overal a lovely time waster!
