Breacard by Mr ChocolateSalmon

[raw]
made by Mr ChocolateSalmon for LD 41 (JAM)

This game started out as a mix of breakout and a card game, and ended up merging Ice hockey and Solitaire.

Rules are pretty straight forward and can be viewed in-game (disabled by pressing "U").

  1. You click the top of the deck to draw a card
  2. You throw the card towards the face down cards
  3. When/if it hits one of those cards, it'll have a different reaction. If your card is lower, it'll stack. (Stacking a 0 will remove the entire stack) If your card is equal, it'll remove both cards But if your card is greater, the cards will all fall back to the table
  4. You can catch cards that are falling. But you can only hold one card at a time!
  5. You'll lose if too many cards fall off the table
  6. And you'll win if all cards are successfully flipped

There's some free assets/models in there, and I'd like to link to the page I got my card back as well: https://publicdomainvectors.org/en/free-vector-playing-card-back

Cheer guys :)

THIS IS IS SUCH AN AMAZING GAME!! The only problem I can think of was that some cards flipped over when they wernt supposed too. I played this game for a while and got addicted. Mobile would be a great platform to release on with this type of game. You should try it

Really neat idea! I included it in my Ludum Dare 41 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHFQFxHlU6Y

I love the mechanic. :v: The rules are clear and simple, and the game as well. The overall mood of the game is well done. Would play it again!

Well, to be honest, I was thinking "I don't like this", yet I kept playing and even came close to winning a few times, so there is definitely something to it. Good job on atmosphere/3D room and the gameplay itself is fun, so I'm not sure what is it that bothered me, perhaps the feeling that the theme didn't inspire you too much. And at times I wished I could throw that bottle or burger at cards, a side effect of this being a physics game. Rules are nice and simple, the game in overall is good.

played thrice, lost in all of them, but still i liked the game :D ^___^

you can improve the game by making the lose condition clearer. And you can also try to make and easy mode by "stacking" the low numbers in the deck and putting the high ones in the table

@Mohamed-DKD Ah awesome, I didn't think of adding an easy mode. Thanks for the feedback

I like the concept, but it feels pretty unfair. Usually in a card game like Solitaire you can manage to know which cards are left in the game. The fact that you can instantly lose in your first 3 moves because of the initial randomness doesn't help either.

Despite that, I feel like this game could be pretty good and solid with thes kind of problems fixed. It's a good and solid jam entry, so congrats! <3
