Blocks from from Nibiru are falling into our dimension. The blocks arrive in shapes of four and stack on top of other blocks. Save the world from destruction by destroying the blocks before they reach the top of the dimensional plane. Destroying blocks will periodically award bonuses for your ship. Be careful to watch the heat meter above each ship, as overheating will require your cannons an extended period of time to cool off before you can shoot again.

In other words, the game is a cross between the space shoot-em-up genre and falling block puzzle game genre. The gameplay is inspired by games like Gyruss and Tetris.

Bonuses

  • Red - Multi-shot cannon (upgradable twice per ship)
  • Cyan - Heat Reduction (upgradable four times per ship)
  • Magenta - Extra Ship (max four ships total)
  • Green - Bomb (max of three)
  • Yellow - Increased Speed (upgradable twice for all ships)

Controls

  • Left / A key - Rotate ships clockwise
  • Right / D key - Rotate ships counter clockwise
  • Up / W key - Move ships in
  • Down / S key - Pull ships out

Neat game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 41 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPm7OCu9cQ8

Good job on colors, sound and atmosphere. And managing to do all those powerups. The way in which genres are joined makes the game awkward to play but that adds to humor if anything.

Love the controls. Aiming by rotating around the outside is an interesting challenge that I don't think I've seen
since Tempest although that was less... aiming I think. Everything was smooth and responsive too. Nicely done.

Good job! Cool game!
Strong point of the game is mechanics, but I think something is missing.

I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.

I hope you continue with the project.

I like the power ups and how the blocks explode when you hit them with a bullet. Both the sound and the visual for that were rewarding. The heat percentage indication was really small and I didn't even notice it until my guns overheated. Also the 'quit' and 'play' buttons on the title screen are a bit small. I'd love to have had some control over the tetris part as well and to have it somehow more integrated into the game than just shooting the blocks (although that in itself was unexpectedly quite fun). Having the circular ship movement with a variable radius around the tetris board was a nice touch.

Wow, you're prolific! I was impressed by how many LD and MiniLDs appeared on your author page, so I watched your 15-in-5-years retrospective video and it turns out I have played two of your games before: the cowboy shooting numbers, and the flying tomato shooter. That's an impressive record you have.

For blocks of Nibiru, I had fun smashing up some tetris blocks. I loved the earth-tone palette that you used for the art, and the colors combined really well with the texture you had, especially the blue circle. Another nice aesthetic aspect was the very satisfying sound of shooting a block.

Gameplay-wise the rounded movement was interesting, but what I liked most was the upgrade system. The multi-ship was cool, and when I had several ships, several speeds, the movement almost became a little different... I was no longer just a ship.

The difficulty curve felt a little wild, it was quite easy for a bit longer than I needed it to be, and then in fact I started messing around and experimenting and not paying attention and at that very moment the game got quickly out of hand and I failed to recover. This was around level 9, though I didn't figure out how to use my bomb.

There was perhaps something here about shooting the blocks to have those above fall in order to achieve a certain arrangement - literally combining match-3 with shooter - which was unexplored.

Oh! And how could I not mention the jamming music! Well I guess it just fit that well.

Another nice entry in an impressively consistent record, well done.

Cool idea! The controls are a bit clunky, but overall the gameplay is well designed

I like this take on Tetris. Shooting is satisfying and the music speed increase is a nice touch.
