Download and try Breakout Bunny from Itch.io

In Breakout Bunny you play as a rabbit who eats a few too many Growth Pellets and ends up escaping to explore and find more Pellets to eat. Breakout Bunny is a very short side-scrolling adventure-style platformer where you explore and interact with your environment to find the items that you need to progress.

We had plans for a much longer adventure, but opted for a more polished short game instead of a rougher long game. We do, however, hope to continue Breakout Bunny's adventures someday.

You can play Breakout Bunny with either your keyboard or a controller.

Movement: Arrow keys/Left Joystick

Use: Left Ctrl/A buttton (Xbox 360 controller)

Jump: Spacebar/Y button (Xbox 360 Controller)

The Use key interacts with things in the background behind the bunny. Line up in front of something you want to use and press the Use key and see what kind of responses you get.

Fantastic concept! I love how the scale moves as I grow larger! One area where I think there is room for improvement is to show whether an item is interactable or not. I believe this is the reason why some people have difficulty clearing room 2. I had no idea what to do at first so I just held down ctrl as I moved through the room and I was able to activate the objects requiring me to get bigger as I passed through them.

Cool idea and cool game ! I'd love to play more ! There is a few collision issue, in my first playthrough I got out of the cage before receiving all the pellets, so in the end I was unable to complete the game. But good job overall !

Ahh that was pretty cute. I liked the 2D/3D mix a lot, but sometimes it caused some issues. Specifically, there was a growth pellet in the fridge that I couldn't get because it fell too far in the background. My only other gripe with this was that I couldn't turn around. that didn't cause an issue with gameplay, but it was a little weird when walking backwards. I really enjoyed this one overall though. Short and sweet. Nice work.

Nice idea! I love how the rabbit is like "ehh, who cares I just want to grow".

I did get to he same problems other are having of not getting all the pellets since one of those doesn't get into the foreground and I can't eat it so I can't continue the story.

And sometimes when I abuse jumping I manage to break it and then I can't jump at all (it seems it happens when I fall on top of some pellets).

I did enjoy my time with it, it was a short fun thing to do.

Ran pretty bad for me but i like the idea :) Would have liked to see more of the world but it was too painful at 3fps haha

Cute game! Wish it was longer (and that the bunny could turn), but I liked it!

Great job on 3D Art in a Jam, always impressed when folks get around to doing it. I think the character controller was the big break in this for me, it was glitchy, I was able to glitch through the cage pretty much right off the bat, then got stuck in the ceiling for a while, then in the floor and was unable to progress past the kitchen. I think your collision checking is the main culprit.

I'd also slow down the rate at which the rabbit moves, it's a little slippery.

This was cute and fun! I enjoyed discovering foods hidden through the house, and laughed when I got too big to fit under the bed. Just like real life. It actually happened to me. But instead of rabbit food it was two liter bottles of Surge. That is how I broke a scale to open the door. Didn't actually break a scale, but I broke a door.

Fun, thank you for making this, and please do keep it up -- see you next Dare!

I love rabbits, used to have one as a pet. I feel like this game captures the rabbit lifestyle very well :D

Impressive with 3d for a gamejam and very well made coherent graphics in general.

Fun entry! :)

Cool game! I died when I saw the passive animation of the bunny shaking his tail!

That rabbit sure those get big fast. It was a cool experience, my only issue was some of the hit boxes for triggers were not so obvious (last one) it took a bit of random jumping and button mashing to find it. But over all well done.

Lovely little game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :)
