Really calls for some kind of audio (played the compo version).
Anyhow, I spared the Mary who liked cakes. Imposter or no, she seemed fun.
Nice job. :)
Good mood and good dialogues!
Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description
I assume the "solid clue" is the part where the player character says "I smell a lie!"?
Mary #2 is the shapeshifter.
-Mary #2 Refuses to answer the fetish question on her own.
When #1 answers first, #2 says that #1 heard it from her because #2 didn't know that #1 was a shapeshifter. This makes no sense since if Mary #2 was real, then she would know that #1 wasn't real. Mary #2 uses a flimsy excuse to try to shift the suspicion on Mary #1 and never gives a proper answer.
Mary #2 comes out with a snarky comment after shooting yourself, as well, while Mary #1 is immediately angry at Mary #2.
Of course it's possible that the third Mary is the real Mary and everyone featured is actually a shapeshifter.
@adam, it's not just quessing, it's a bluff mechanics, so you can try to confuse a shapeshifter. And, yes, you are right, it's also interrelated with the twist. Both interpretations are possible.
"I smell a lie" - yes, that's the clue. Congrats!
@SamJam, her answer makes sense, if the shapeshifter heard about fetish in her normal form - and actually changed into Mary *after that*. So Mary didn't know about shapeshifter's abilities when they were talking earlier. )
@alyphen, that's great version about the third Mary. I was hoping that players would note it. :)
Could have used more questions and maybe a backstory that can hint to the player the real Marry.
Also the questions can be put in a way that leads the shape-shifter to a trap if asked in the right sequence
I didn't like the ending much .. the tension built through out the game(of not killing your beloved) ended being unjustified and unworthy when the man turned out to be a shape-shifter.
