This game was pretty cool, crazy awesome visuals, really liked it. Was a little slow on my computer but that's probably just a me issue. Game was cool. Like the jumps

Goes all out for the aesthetic and basically nails it. Racing is really fun too, fast - and drifting is really fun. A lot of jumps too, which made me feel really cool. Physics is a little wonky, but I had almost as much fun wrecking my car as I did racing. Also, it lets you keep playing even after you run out of power, which was nice of them.

You can never go wrong with musclecars, neon and synthwave.

Massive props on the soundtrack and on the visuals.

I also noticed you have something in place to automatically flip cars that get stuck. That feature is much appreciated and makes tail ending fools at 150mph much less frustrating.

Very satisfying racing physics, and nice graphics. I couldn't tell what the power was doing though, and it was much too easy to keep it in the high 90s constantly.

I really like the look of this. I think it's a pretty good start to a racing game, so glad to hear that you're planning to continue working on it post jam.

One thing that could really help the gameplay would be some way to do a powerslide, or some kind of braking. The directional controls felt pretty good, but I kept feeling like there should be some other kind of control to combine with them.

Also...not sure if it was intended or not...but the guitar pick shaped raindrops are really cool!

Beautiful! The controls and feel are really solid, and the graphics & sound are perfect. It looks like what we were attempting to do in the GMTK jam a few weeks ago (https://zre.itch.io/turbo-phoenix-overdrive if you're interested).

I don't have much to constructively criticize-- I guess the theme probably could have been explored with more depth, since I never really felt in danger of running out of power and the challenge of the game came from avoiding the walls/other cars rather than staying charged up. Maybe the city itself could darken on a longer straightaway, making it harder to see until you charge up?

Glad to see you guys are planning on continuing work on it :)

Visuals are great, music is great, and everything works really well stylistically. My biggest gripe is with the physics. More realistic car physics are fun in sandbox games, but in a racing game I want control and speed. Feeling somewhat out of control because of how physics is going to resolve a bump or collision takes away the enjoyment for me of a solid racing experience. I would also like to see a course with more variety. More vertical change would be a nice bonus, and some varying scenery (would love to know what a beach and bay looks like in that style). All in all stylistically great, but physics and course design can use some work. Thanks!

I love the aesthetic, the game ooze style! One of the best looking games of the dare I've seen so far. The rain screen effects and break light blur really look downright beautiful on-top of the tron like setting. The game-play reminds me of those old school arcade racers, where you had to get from checkpoint to checkpoint before the time ran out (such as Outrun). So the game-play hits a soft spot for me.

My only real complaint is the car handling. The car flips too easily, and the car's too stiff, making it hard to drift on turns, which is odd, seeing how the game's graphics and "arcadey" game-play seem to scream PGR style drifting. But, handling is something that takes time to tweak and get right, so it's forgivable to not have it perfect in 72 hours. It's something that even if it's 95% right, that 5% will over-shallow it. So make sure you spend time tweaking it if you do indeed continue to work on it!

That being said, it's still really fun to drive! The classic racing game-play still holds up, and it's just plain fun.

I also found an odd bug, the place you finished gets stuck between races. Meaning if you finished 8th the first time, and 1st the second, it'll still say you placed 8th the second time through. It works fine upon restarting though.

I look forward to seeing how the full game turns out!

The Game was fun with nice visuals the driving and the AI were good!
But,when it said i ran out of power i just kept on going and more than a few times i ramped over the sides and fell into what i can only call the abyss. There's allot going for this and was a great game for the time limit.

There's nothing wrong with this game but allot could be improved.

I love the music.
The graphics is very good. But I think it can even be improved by adjusting the colors and make sight focus on the picture center.
The camera is very professional.
The grapics looks very cool, but I worry that the flincker lines might make player sick.
I can still drive my car even I lost all energy.
Bumped road is an interesting idea.
This game worth play many times. And I want more rock and roll

From a guy who has also tried to make a racing game in a jam I am super impressed by how tight the controls are!

Really good work guys! However the art style, while cool, is rather distracting because of how much it strobes and flickers. I thing it downplays the most effective part of the game which is the strong racing element.

Hope you guys do well! I really loved this entry.

Great stuff guys, very polished, very nice audio-visually, not much to complain about! Only thing I found SLIGHTLY annoying was the camera panning weirdly during jumps which made the jumping a little bit confusing. That's a very minor complaint however. AI drivers too?! Sheesh guys. Stellar job.

This is a really great game! I had a great time driving (and crashing) my car around the track and the jumps were very cool. Even though you could still drive after running out of power, that didn't bother me too much because I was having too much fun driving around and crashing into other cars. One thing I would suggest improving would be the message that says you ran out of power, since it pops up in the middle of the screen and can be pretty distracting. Other than that, I really liked the graphics and the music too. It really set the mood well and made it look professional. Great job!

I think I broke the game, looks cool though. Side note, in this picture it says I ended in 8th place. But in reality I ended in 2th place. Weird bug.
![screenshot night.png](///raw/c1f/2/z/82df.png)

Anyway, I really enjoyed your game. I haven't played much racing games, I don't have any reference, but the driving felt good. Furthermore, the graphics and the mood where great. However, the energy system you added to the game felt forced and didn't really add anything in my opinion. I never ran out of energy. It just felt forced because the theme demanded it.
Overall, a polished and well made game with some minor bugs!

This is a great entry! I loved the overall aesthetic of it. The graphics reminded me of 80s virtual reality movies and the soundtrack was very 80s sounding as well. The rain effects and ambient sound effects definitely added to the fantastic mood as well. The driving was very standard and nothing really out of the ordinary but it was still a great deal of fun. Nothing really to critique here other than the suggestion of adding more features and mechanics and polishing up general game feel. Overall, great entry!

I love the art style and the rain effect!
The music was good as well, but was a bit repetitive over time.
And the controls were good, but I couldn't go really straight after a drift, I think a boost you can activate, to stop your drift would have been a good idea! Anyway, great game!

This was quite a good game!

- Graphics: Very good graphics! I like this neon style, kinda reminds me of Blood Dragon :)
- Sound: I don't exactly know why you opted out but I suspect that you didn't made it. Shame, cause it really contributed to overall feel of the game
- Gameplay: I'll disagree on this one with others. It was really extremlly hard to control the car, but I think that if you would have more time you could make the controls better. Anyway, I could finish the race after few tries so that matters :)
- Overall: I had my fun with this game. Surely not the best control-wise from all the games I played, but graphics kept the game interesting enough for me. Also, I don't know how time flew by so that's always a good thing :)

Wow, that was a really incredible game, well done! I can't think of any really significant flaws in your presentation. I would've liked perhaps one or two more features on the track (the ramps were fun, I was hoping for more satisfying things like that). Maybe some curvature to the road would make the environment feel a little more Wipeout-ey, but those are small issues.

Real cool! The bug fixes are really neat. The energy pack are well distributed, I didn't have a too hard time despite sucking at driving games, it stayed fun. The music is badass. The visuals and menus are cool. Maybe an epilepsy disclaimer? I know it's kind of obvious with most video games and stuff, but yeah this is quite hardcore and the flashing lights made me super dizzy.

Wow that was really good driving .... in a game jam game. Well done not only was the driving good, the AI seemed pretty good too. Really like the theme/graphically style you went for and the audio just tied it all together so well. I think the camera when jumping was not great, and would have been nice to have "free-cam". Love the style, although I might increase the thickness of the wireframe, it was sort of distracting with the aliasing on it. The driving was tight which is surprising given it was a game jam. I did encounter a sort of physics bug when rear-ending another car at high speed it flung me over them and pretty high up on a wall.
It would have been nice to give the other cars different colors just for variety sake. Overall Excellent work.

I didn't manage to win the race, I wanted to explore your world so much that I kissed the walls a lot. :p

Anyway, good music choice, the sounds effects are nice.
As for the music, this kind of art / visual style is trendy lately, but that's a trend I can get behind.^^

I like that you can give a hard time to the IA by throwing them off. The RoadBumps (for lack of a better term, sorry) are a nice touch, coupling those with the energy boosts makes it a nice level / game design thing, giving variety to the game.
I found the energy boosts' hitboxes a bit too small, some of them being at not so practical angles on the road, making them a bit hard to get without hitting the walls.

I would love to play more levels. :) Since I didn't see any information on your twitter / website / blog / telepathic network, I'll keep checking your entry's page.^^

Good Job! o/

The retro graphics and neon lights contributed greatly to the atmosphere! The mood of this game is one of the highlights of this LD for me.

I eventually beat the game, but took me quite a number of tries. The car handling could use some work, and collisions with other cars or walls can really throw you off. I found it easier to let the other cars go ahead and take my time completing the track. Missing a powerup can be fatal as well.

About the avatar :

- Export it on Xbox controller, the fun thing in driving, is to manage the speed
- Wich bring me to the second point, you can made that the power lost depend on you'r speed.
- What you can do is that the Max speed depend on your power gauge.

It's pretty arcade, so maybe you shall thought about element that can create spaces between players, like managing the gauge, with some "boost" system, or else.

Still, it's a real great job !

I'm a sucker for the 80s retrowave aesthetic and graphics, so this is one of the best entries I've played! The racing felt really good for a jam game, drift was right, ramps were fun and the car was spinning out of control at the right places.
There was one time where I got stuck and was unable to move the car, although that's kind of rare.
I can't believe this is a jam game!
Would be cooler with some light trails.

Great graphics and sound! The mood is fantastic. I think you can improve the race track by removing those edges of the buildings. If the player lost control over his car he gets easily stuck because of those edges. A bit frustrating though.

Hey @nbitsstudio - [you put your game on my list to play](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/end-of-time/whos-not-had-any-love-link-your-game-for-me-to-play), and [I streamed the play-through on Friday](https://youtu.be/-DEvWdMWCKk?t=5310), I'm not a very good driver, but I liked the mechanics, A little more feedback (maybe audio?) when you hit the breaks, would be cool, but otherwise it's nice! Very nicely done in the 48 hours, I was really impressed to see the car get reset when it ended up on its roof :) And the jumps were a really nice touch!

Not to brag or anything but I got 8th place twice in a row (;

Very pretty, although the UI seems hardcoded for 16:9 resolutions: things become a little misplaced at e.g. 1920x1200. The physics are slightly overkill, but the driving controls are mostly alright (although I'd like to be able to brake while I'm holding accelerate, Trackmania style). Good work!

Cool stuff!
Avast detected your exe as a malware on your 2nd version, the first one works fine!

@huitre Well, as far I searched on internet, this is a Avast issue. I sugest you deactivate the antivirus to play our updated game.

Great game, the controls are slick (maybe you should tell about space key to break though), global aesthetic (visual & music) is fine. My only comment is that the power bar just never fills. It stays here, empty and inactive, only the "running out of power" alert shows me I'm on trouble. Not a big problem though as of course you never want to avoid a power flash, you want them all! And of course the game was made in only 3 days, so terrific job guys, and fun game!

I see that you're using Unity, can you make a macOS build? Thanks.

What an excellent game! The visuals are stunning, the neon 80's tron style is absolutely great and the music goes very well with it. The car physics felt very good, and the controls were slick. It was a lot of fun to play!

My biggest issue with it is that the "running out of power" part seems like it's just kinda tacked on to a racing game, and it feels kind of unfair when only the player needs power. The AI cars just keep on driving without needing to refill their power, so it's pretty much just a tacked on mechanic that obstructs the player because otherwise it wouldn't fit the theme. I think you should've made it a little bit more integral to the game than it is.

I also got a bug where I was always 8th place, regardless of what position I finished at.

I still really liked it though. Extremely well made considering the time limit.

Thanks for playing, guys! I suggest after you play the entry version and avalue our game, play the updated version. A lot of bugs are already fixed, including a more calibrated disposition of the energies. About the AI need to get energies too would be out of scope for a 3-day game development, but sure would be better with it.

:musical_note: *Now playing: Kavinsky - Nightcall* :musical_note:

Awesome shaders work. So awesome -- even youtube video codec can't handle it.

I'm really bad at racing games and walls with obstacles make it really hard to play.

Small bugs I found:
- sometimes tire tracks stuck in the air
- there are a lot of gaps in walls so you can fall off
- 1-2% of energy is consumed before you can actually drive
- in some cases if you run out of power - arrows controls got blocked on a next try.

Here is my playtest: https://youtu.be/zte0CTmkRzw

Thanks for playing, @icxon! Yes, Youtube codecs doesn't know how to show the beauty of the game hahaha. I had this problem even with the Windows recorder.
@ eremiell and @zenmumbler, we'll probably do Mac/Linux versions on the complete version of the game we are working on.

5 stars! When I drove through the lightning bolt and saw the explosion I felt excited! The moment when I would continue to play is I wasn't sure what I could do to pass more than the slowest car. The cars got ahead of me and I wasn't feeling feedback on if I was driving faster or slower, since I was dead last most of the time and didn't see cars to indicate my relative pace.

Fantastic aesthetic! @nbitsstudio The sounds in the game(especially the car engines) are very well done! It's extremely refreshing to see a racing game as a submission, especially one made in unity! The rain drop effects paired with the bloom creates a great mood and feel for the game. The physics are pretty good however it is quite easy to flip if you collide with anything else. Also if you don't mind me asking, are you using the unity wheel colliders? I know how hard it is to make a game like this, so I applaud you for how good Night Driver is!

@teammonumental Yes, we used wheel colliders. Also we used a tool to help put all the parameters in one inspector window, wich helps with time a little bit. The problems in physics are pretty much time-guilty, because it take much time to set all those whell parameters, weight, downforce and center of mass for the car gets harder to flip.
