Bugfixes (27.04.2017)

  • Unfortunately i've got to remove the direction arrow. There is no easy way to implement this. To give you some comfort, i implemented a distance display instead.

Graphics are awesome, I love low-poly art.

Now, gameplay.
First thing - GPS was not working most of the time, when it showed "small see" or "tower" it was making me drive in circles a long way from the destination.
Car could drive on the water - that was a very helpful feature.

Music was very fitting for this kind of game.

Overall I had fun, it was a very action-packed taxi driving experience.

Hey Teslov,

thank you for your comment. You are right, the gps is not working well. I figured out a fix that i will implement until friday. I am very happy that you enjoyed playing the game :)

Cheers

Oh man, I love the visuals and idea of the game. I think the design works out conceptually well. However you could definetly benefit from looking at your UI again. It took me a little while of just driving around to notice the mechanics of the "GPS" at the bottom. However after playing a while I really drove rather to the landmarks then trying to minimize the distance meter - so that worked out brilliantly.

My major gripes would be driving through the gimbal lock of the planet, which completly screws any momentum and is sth. you definitely need to look at again and also the harsh difficulty. The controls aren't entirely easy, so having a bit of leeway for the player to pick up passengers and deliver them would greatly benefit the game imo.

Also when I first started the game, my taxi seemed to have spawned inside of the planet, leading to the camera just phasing in and out of the planet for around 3 minutes till the game over screen hit.

Anyways, beautiful little entry, I really dig the visual mood and coherence.

cheers~

I was the :taxi: driver the planet deserved, not the one it wanted... or needed... It's complicated.

The money certainly kept flying away :money_with_wings: :money_with_wings: :money_with_wings:. Even after memorizing all the hotspots I still could not make any money at all with these rates. This is not how a :taxi: service works. You pay more the longer the trip, not less.... Oh well, there must a lot of competition I'm not seeing then.

The difficulty could use some tweaking, is my point. This goes from Crazy :taxi: to Impossible :taxi: pretty quick.

Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate it. I see, i've got to tweak the difficulty and solve the gimbal lock problem as well...

Really fun game! The graphics and audio also fit together quite nicely (although the tire squealing got a bit tedious after a while).

Apart from the lack of direction help that others have mentioned, I thought that the collision was a bit of a problem. The most obvious is the bridge, which slows you down a lot for seemingly no (gameplay-related) reason and which I got stuck on more than once, and had to reverse down and try again with a bit of a run-up.
I also go stuck on the corner of a building once, with no way to reset or drive off of it. I just had to wait until I lost.
Ideally (for me, at least) if you ran into a wall at ~30 degrees, you'd just rotate and slide along it instead of getting stuck, although this is probably more complicated to implement than could fit into a jam (I have no idea).

Also the first time I started the game up, my car was seemingly stuck in the center of the planet because I just got a close-up view of the ground and couldn't move/do anything....worked the next time though so I'm not sure what happened there.

I really enjoyed playing it overall though :)

Cool graphics and idea, but it wasn't really working too well. The taxi would seemingly get stuck in the ground and crawl to a halt. Seems like a bug that nobody's mentioned. I've been having trouble running some other unity games too so maybe it's an engine thing. Anyway, I won't hold it against you, cool looking game!

This is a great idea - Crazy Taxi on a planet scale. However, I was unable to enjoy the game due to having no idea where I was meant to be going. It said "Tower" but there was no indication of where the tower is relative to me. Here's what I see:
![Image2.jpg](///raw/7e2/3/z/3deb.jpg)
After losing I started again and this time I was lucky enough to find my fare but then I had no idea where I was meant to be taking him.
It's a shame as it could be quite fun - but, in my opinion, the handling and responsiveness needs to be improved.

This could become a great game if you continue to work on it. The game is quite buggy at the moment but it has potential. I like the look and tone of the game. The driving is fun but improvements could be made. I personally think it could be a bit more "slidy" and it would be cool if the car left skidmarks everywhere. It could also be fun if there were some AI traffic and maybe pedestrians. Some landmarks have weird names making the game unnecessarily hard.

Some bugs I found:
* The camera rotates for no reson around the "poles" causing the car to suddenly crash.
* Sometimes when I start the game, the car is stuck under ground and I must restart the game completely to fix it.
* I often got stuck on the bridge even if my speed was high.

Other than that, Great game! 10/10 ign

First of all thank you very much for your feedback. I apologize for the bugs i was not able to fix in the last week, because of my daily work. My plan is to fix these bugs during the next week. Hopefully i can provide you a more convenient version to play :)

Overall i am very happy that you enjoy my vision of a low poly taxi driver on a small planet ;)
Thank you very much and please stay tuned :)

Pretty game! Cool concept too. I lost twice, then my car just wouldn't appear anymore. I think a little arrow or a map showing you where to go would be helpful. I also think it would maybe be better if the camera rotated towards the direction of the car but that's probably subjective. Great work!

I like a lot the idea and visuals (I love bright things! but I don't know why our games keep looking dark... need to step that up)

I can see a slightly-bigger planet and lots of little interactive things with your Taxi and have this lovely toy and game. It does have problems, and as many have pointed out, the GPS and the Gymbal lock are one of these.

I would like to point out as well that when you crash to anything in an angle, you get to a full stop. It really takes you out of the speedy taxi thing. I would recommend instead to make the taxi bounce or slide. It could be fun, thinking like a spherical pinball with your taxi to reach faster and making combos or something could be a neat idea. Or at the very least make it slide so you can keep going.

However the core concept is good and the visuals are really nice. Keep it up!

I like the idea but the gameplay felt unfinished and buggy. The lack of indication where to go as mentioned is a big minus. The graphics are nice but bit confusing at places. Sometimes it was really hard to tell if car could pass through some areas or not. And my taxi bugged out and I wasn’t able drive straight after that (this happened I think at the one of the planets poles). Also after colliding with a wall car would be just stuck there unless reversed away, which is bit unexpected behaviour. Overall with some gameplay tweaks and some graphical adjustments your game could become something really fun to play.

This gave me flashbacks to playing crazy taxi with my dad ages ago

The graphics are nice, and the car control feels good, especially when you drift and the wheels make sound.

I think it could be a bit more forgiving in the difficulty... I start to loose money way too fast.

Overall it's a really nice and innovative game! Good job!

Really fun Game, really rememeber some old arcade style games, like crazy taxi, but with top view!
Its really challenging to play and, with some more poliment in graphics and including some more challenges in the game level, i think you can manage to create a really fun experience! Great job!

Also, test my compo entry here too, need some more few ratings too now! thanks ;D

This was fun, but I had a bit of trouble in the beginning. I just could not find my target. Once I figured the directions out I could not be stopped. I think I would still be driving but then my car got stuck in a building. I still had lots of fun, the core game play is really solid. Well done.

There are a couple of troublesome spots on the map.
- sometimes the bridge stopped me for no reason
- between the bridge and the church the camera rotates weirdly messing up the steering

The music was really driving things forward, gave it a very nice mood.

My highscore was $21,91. But it seems that the highscore is not reset after loosing, so maybe that was over more then 1 session.

Very pretty game, cool concept of making the taxi driver game. I liked the planned with all the locations too discover. The driving i found a bit tooo hard, especially because turing around is so slow and you dont know what direction to go. The camera induces dizziness, we have the exact same problem in our game :)

Overall i liked it! Good entry!

After 3 games, the game is cool! Because you know where to go!! Play with the controller is great!! Thank you.
The music is cool too! Good job for the game! Just one thing. The camera do a 180° at one point, and each time I rod on the wall...

I want to echo others thoughts about loving the visuals and the aesthetic with the game! I think you did a really good job on that.

The driving controls were pretty frustrating for me though. I think it wasn't a big deal that there was no arrow pointing to the right direction (although that would have helped), but it was more the fact that the direction changes as the camera does (which you have no control over). That is, if I keep holding down W, the car will start to turn on its own because the camera is rotating. I think having "W" be the direction the car is facing and not make it rotate with the camera would make this much less frustrating at least for me.

I restarted the game after the game over and the game is crashed, I think the car is inside the planet, and when I press a button, I see an another side of planet. :( But It's a good game.
