Gridlock by TerraPass

[raw]
made by TerraPass for LD 42 (JAM)

Gridlock puts you in command of the most hectic parking lot in the world. You'll have to react fast to arriving cars and think on your feet to make sure that as many parking spaces are taken as possible.

How to Play

You get paid for every car you handle, so you should pack the lot with as many cars as possible, while keeping wasted space to a minimum. Cars come in different sizes and may prevent one another from reaching the place you allocated, so be careful not to get gridlocked.

The game ends when there's no more space, or when the line outside the parking lot gets too long.

Postjam updates

  • jam-original builds on itch.io contain the game in the state it was at the end of the 72h Jam, including all of the bugs. Most notably, it's impossible to score 100% on the level.
  • jam-original-bugfix builds on itch.io contain the version with pretty much the same feature-set as jam-original but with most bugs fixed, including the ability to complete the level.

@sankacoffee51 Thank you! That's a bug I didn't notice until now.

I like the concept, and it's executed pretty well! My only gripe is it's really easy to accidentally park a car right in front of the road, and all of a sudden nothing can move into the parking lot anymore. Still, good concept and solid execution

Good game ^^ I made around 180$ The game was quite interesting and I tried to figure out a strategy to place the cars more effective. The cars and the parking lot looked very nice and the sound was great, too. One thing that I noticed was, that sometimes when I couldn't park cars anymore and I should already have lost, I still had to wait until the line was too long. Good Job with that game.

The music in the menu raised my expectations for the sounds in general. It was disappointing not to hear any. In any case, the graphics are great and I loved the fresh take on this style of games!

Really strong entry, congratulations team! The aesthetic is fantastic and all your assets are very cohesive. Something quite hard to pull of in a jam environment. The lack of audio in general was a shame and hurt the over all product the most. I found the game very meditative, which was a nive break from a lot of the other action, shooty shooty games im been playing this jam. Looking forward to seeing more from the team in the future!

Nice and simple. The graphics and the music fit together nicely and create a lovely atmosphere. I wish there was a bit more to the gameplay, but either way, it's a neat little game.

Funny. A made a parking game too but nothing in common with yours. This is a nice game. Art is beautiful and the gameplay is intuitive. All in this game is mastered. Good work!

Nice pathfinding for the cars! The gameplay was pretty intuitive, even if it was impractical in the sense of getting cars out later. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 5:29 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/298692367
