The atmosphere of the game is great too, with the sentences put together by the words.
It's just too bad the game is too slow. A time limit would have added an interesting challenge.
Overall, it's a cool concept that deserve to be developped. Good work !
Another thing that would be really nice for people like me that types really fast, would be to see future words (like some cells away) and then typing words "in advance" would allow your character to go faster towards its destination... Then with some timer function we could basically hit high scores by typing fast and accurately! Would love to play once more if want to push the concept further
Best aspects:
- The words (choice of words and sounds)
Tip/Suggestions:
- The graphics are a bit basic, maybe add a bit of lighting to match the overall tone a bit more.
- Maybe make it so that you have to type the letters in the right order to make it even feel more as a typewriter.
All in all an interesting mashup and love the typewriter aspect.
You did a fantastic job with the mood - the visuals/audio really set the atmosphere, and the creepy, foreboding messages worked into the text were so cleverly done. I imagine you could use the same system to warn players of traps or give them clues about other areas in the dungeon.
Great work!
Nice work!
As others have said the game gets a little old quite quickly, though... It's a solid foundation that just needs juicing up a bit!
I think the way letters typed was detected made it a weak typing game. Because it detects a key stroke for every instance of the letter, there are a few places where you can comlete multiple words simultaneously. If you choose to go back to refine the concept, that's where I'd suggest starting.
I would have seen a full typing need, instead of a "all letters of this kind disappear", but except of that, good job!
I also found a bug: If you find the key, walk away and then back to the key, you are stuck and can not progress further.
I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.
