The Killer Blue Tiles by Alisiena

[raw]
made by Alisiena for LD 42 (COMPO)

If you think my game is unsafe. Go ahead and download my source code. It has the full game inside it. Go to Windows, x86 and it will be there.

There are only 10 levels in this game! So if the next LEVEL button stops working, CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I am now working on a fix for some of the bugs!

I am sorry. I was wondering why people were talking about the next level issues because I had fixed that along time ago. Turns out I accidently released my very old version of the game. The version I was meant to release will be out in a few minutes!

EDIT: I have the full release available now! Every single bug fixed (unless you tell me the bugs you encounter) ! Download here: https://idevkidobc.itch.io/the-killer-blue-tiles ! No more installers as it triggered virus alarms etc for no reason. I am using a zip for the full game now!

There were no instructions. Neat simple game.

Why an installer and not just an executable?!

The ghost is nice, but more graphics and audio would help. :)

Hi Alisiena, the installation went well, but when i entered the option (where i couldn't change anything) and pressed accept, the game froze.

Anyway I played the entire game (eheh I know, I'm a pro) and it's intriguing! The only tip is to change the mechanic where the walls tighten around the ghost because it seams you cannot go there, while it's just a measure of time. I get it, it's for the theme, but I think it's a bit forced. Anyway good job!

@dagoret hmm, so you couldn't change anything in the options? And after pressing apply the game froze? I will look into it!

That was a surprisingly scary download because the game has almost no identifying information, not even a screenshot posted, and it triggered not only the "may be harmful" warning on Chrome, but the Windows Smartscreen warning, AND the administrator "allow this program to modify files" warning. Next time, please just put everything in a zip file. It won't trigger all these false positives from anti-malware tools, and most people rating game jam games expect to play 20 games a single time, so they would rather not see 20 of them cluttering their desktop.

For those wondering: The game is a plain Unity3D game wrapped in an installer. The installer is what set off all the alarms.

Now, the game itself. The game is very simple but it's OK for a first effort! You seem to have a decent idea of how to use Unity's UI, now the challenge is for you to develop some more advanced techniques.

For example, the game doesn't seem to notice when the ball thing(?) has already fallen outside the edge of the map. That makes it unfair because then I can't win anymore. So there should be a feature that moves it into a place I can reach.

@triplefox Sorry, I followed Brackeys tutorial on youtube on how to set it up as an installer. I thought an installer would be easier. I used inno to do this. Oh now I understand. Sometimes, when the ball is quite far, you have to spam your keys. I tried it and tried to make it as hard as possible so people won't get bored. Thanks!!!

Great concept, I encountered a lot of bugs:

"Next Level" broke after a couple levels
I couldnt change the gfx quality on a 1920x1080p monitor (scaling is off)
installer wouldn't run till the 5th try.

other than that, the game, if given more time, would actually be a pretty neat game! Great job man!!

Hope my feedback is helpful!

The game looked so perfect in my eyes while I was testing. I used PlayerPrefs to set a level. Don't know how that could break. I need to look into this! @bigjigglyproductions

Simple but fits with the theme. Super rough around the edges. I think I finished the game after approximately 10 levels as the next level button didn't work anymore? But if this was your first time using Unity it was still a good job. Remember you can only get better :)

The next level stopped after 10 levels because there are only 10 levels. This is the first unity game I have "published". Thanks!

Hi , if you developed the game in Unity you can build the browser version which will make it easy for people to rate :) small suggestion.

Congrats with the first game! If you made this with Unity, it better to make WebGL build. It will help to avoid different display resolution problems at least.

Umm, what do the blue tiles do exactly? Pretty much nothing. Also at one point when I pressed "Next level", nothing happened, so I quit and went to level 2, but there it said that I haven't unlocked it yet??

@nnnikki If you touch the blue tiles, you die. But I found out why sometimes it doesn't register.

Super quick and easy game, which is understandable, given the fact that we only have 48 hours. the controls and what to do are intuitive. After a couple levels I couldn't press Next Level though...

A very cool concept, and the installer was quite nice. Though the "Next Level" button broke after a few levels. Also a few of the greens dots required you to spam the keys a lot.

Hello!

This game is interesting, the idea was very good and I was very very entertained. We had a full time (We only died once, hehe)

You just need a little more graphics and sound, solve the options menu and go. I think it would be a very, very good game.

The truth is that the idea is very good, and we had a lot of fun, it just takes a little more style, very good work!
