Shadow World by Ben Beehler

[raw]
made by Ben Beehler for LD 38 (JAM)

Hello, My name is Ben! I am proud to announce my first entry into Ludum Dare Ever! The theme for Ludum Dare, as most of you know, was "small world", or something like that. I decided to take it in a new direction and put a spin on it! Instead of the actual world being small, even though there are only 6 levels ;|, your field of view is small as the world has been engulfed in shadows.

The game may be buggy as I finished it 15 minutes before the official ending.....

I also want to mention I opt-out of audio as only part of it is custom. Most of our audio came from incompetech.com and the default clickteam samples provided with clickteam fusion 2.5 (the engine I used). Also some of the audio clips were not provided in the source but I did not make them as they were outside clips I used.

Well done for your first entry! One thing I could suggest is rendering the NPC character textboxes over the shadow, so you don't have to adjust the character position to read it. Also, was there a reason the player is not centered to the "light radius area"?

Thanks for the feedback. I was planning on fixing both of those bugs, but ultimately, I ran out of time. I tried centering the light area but clickteam decided to mess the positioning up. It could have been a simple fix but I decided to just move forward and adjust it later if I had time.

I have to agree with @ben-beehler the text boxes should be over the vingette. In addition to that the screen was very small a few options for that would be nice for your next game. Other than that nice game.
