You're a Formula One driver racing on 8 of the most incredible tracks in the world! What's the trick? Well, you don't see the road... not directly!

In Type it like Schumacher!, you have to control your car with command lines! Nothing too complicated though: * LEFT makes your car go to the line at your left, * RIGHT does the same thing, but to the right, * GEAR is used to change gears and speed up, or slow down. Put the number of the gear wanted (0 to 6) to accelerate or brake! * SCAN gives you an overview of what's ahead: fuel that you need to reach the finish line, remains of crashes that will slow you down, area in which the speed is limited, and other drivers! * QUIT is the word to use if you feel like you can't wait to go to the bathroom... Press then Enter to validate your command, and drive your way to the finish line!

The key is to always have an eye on the scan and the other one on your placement and your speed. Think you're up to the task? I'm sure you are!

So come on, put your helmet and your gloves on and race on the Text-based Racing game Type it like Schumacher!!

Great idea and good job!
I really enjoy music.

Sometime the game does not reconize all my "type" when I type fast. It's a bit annoying.

I was also stuck at level 2 after the first race, the game does not reconize my words. (I try with GEAR 1, LEFT, RIGHT, SCAN and QUIT)

Interesting idea, I like how the fast-paced music combines with the typing nature of the game, quite funny :) My one major annoyance is that I can't type as fast as I want, there's a small delay I have to wait for after each key press to be able to input another.

Haha, that must be one of the quirkiest games I've played! It really looks like it could have been a thing from 30 years ago. Very cool idea and nicely done! Love the music. Fits the theme nicely as well, especially because it's actually real time racing. I also had the keyboard problem where it wouldn't recognise when typing too fast.

Thanks to all of you!

@vasco-freitas Yes, I've seen that delay and I agree it does prevent fast typing. I didn't have time to fix that issue however :(

This is such a good idea! The music and gameplay were both really great. If I had any feedback, it'd be that I had to type really slowly for the game to recognize my input, which was a little annoying. I also got stuck at level 2 after I finished level 1 (looks like someone else had that problem too). Otherwise I really enjoyed the style and execution of this.

The fact that i couldnt type fast was a bit frustrating, but besides that a very lovely game! Congratulations :)

as @harusame said, you need to wait half a second or so between each keypress. but the game is not (too) "fast-paced" so it's not much of a nuisance.
good job!

This is a game you don't see everyday. It's a nice idea, but I wish I could type with any speed and maybe use some shortcuts, like L for left or G2 for 2nd gear.

I think I had a problem with gears. Sometimes in the upper part it would show, for example "gear 2", but when I wanted to change gear to 3 it told me that I was already at 3. Sometimes it would also change gears on it's own. In one race i just typed "gear 1" and at the end I was on gear 5.

Great job! Cheers!

Yeess! This is definitely the most unique and original game I've played so far for this Ludum Dare. The only thing I wasn't keen on, as has been mentioned above, was the typing delay, but overall this was pretty creative and awesome. The music is very good too.

Great game - my favourite so far :)

+1 to the "I cant type quickly enough" complaint - it takes away from the feel quite a bit for me. I would feel way more bad ass if i could type really quickly and avoid obstacles at the last second. That and the fact that I couldn't slow down fast enough (did you consider a BRAKE command maybe?) are my only criticisms. But maybe I just need more practice ;)

Very original idea, and I LOVE the music! 5/5 for audio.

I found myself stumbling over inputs, but I think you built a very cohesive game here. The feedback you've gotten so far is all pretty solid so I won't mimic it, but I hope you continue to work on this post-jam!

Text-based racing game.. why does that sound familiar? :b
The frequency this game allows input is incredibly slow and almost always messes up my commands. Other than that, I quite like your implementation of the genres. I even managed to win a race once!

I had the bug where it wouldn't recognise commands after beating a level, but seeing as you can start from any level, restarting the program and just skipping to the stage I was on solved the issue.

Awesome audio! Really challenging trying to keep track of all the obstacles and come in within the time limit!
