Summary

Cracks is a short narrative game initially made for the compo. I needed more time in the end so I entered it for the jam. I love having to create a story or narrative for my games. I hope you enjoy!

Things I didn't have time to finish - Sound effects - Tool animations - Visual feedbacks (Mainly particles)

Tools - Unity - Some ink and water color. - Gimp - Bosca Ceoil

2017-12-04: Last upload was to added the Web build and had forgotten the data folder for the Windows build.

You've only allowed "very low" graphic setting, which by default has vsync turned off, this caused the FPS to be extremely high which leads to very high CPU and GPU usage. I'd love to play it if you upload a new version with vsync enabled.

Nice job, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense......... It's a really innovative idea, although it isn't really fun. You just sit there and click stuff over and over and over and over and OVER... It gets old. Anyway, the music was decent, the artwork was okay (Although the tape has potential. How did you do that?), and the mood was pretty good. Overall, a pretty nice entry!

Really cool Game. It was surprisingly fun to see what tools there were.
One question, what did you use for the tape, crack filler, and plaster in unity? It was a cool effect.

The tape, crack filler and plaster are actually all Unity's Trail Renderer component with different settings and materials. The one thing they have in common is the time which is set to Infinity so they'll never shorten. I spawn a new one and make it follow the tool until you let go of the button.

That was an interesting game, I was really curious about what I was fixing. I really like the art, and the game was relaxing to play. Good job.

Good job in presenting the story! but I am not very clear about the ending. Fixing a person? The spikes and the holes may not relate to a person well in my opinion. The effect of the tape and the crack filler is cool by the way!

I got invested on the story with every click of the button, I was anticipating some kind of surprise at the end, and the cynic in me was expecting something more "mundane" (can't find a more appropriate work), so the hopeful and heart-felt revelation was a welcome twist. The art style was effective, and the music was charming.

Really enjoyed the game, with a nice reveal and heartwarming message at the end. I really liked the use of watercolor art, especially when it was used to separate the 'repairs' from the rest.

I really loved this game. I enjoyed it the whole time. I love the animations and graphics, and how you only use the mouse. I love the music too, it was great and relaxing. I LOVED the ending, and I love games that do stuff like that.

### Suggestions
- You CAN fix the bug that says "sue" instead of "use". It is allowed in the rules of LD that you can fix bugs. The only thing not allowed is adding new features. To prove, go to the [LD rules](http://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/rules).
- Some of the graphics were very pixelated, so you should update them (this would be for the post jam game)

I love the different tools that do different things. This game is terrific. Also, ignore the comment on LD about the "fixing a person?" I am currently making [a game](https://github.com/thebclickteam/bocracy) that there are B's and A's fighting each other. Game's don't have to make sense, just like TV Shows.

I like the game, especially the ending. I guessed there was some big reveal when I saw the art assets were all pixelised, and still didn't expect that. The hand drawn graphics were a nice thought.

@cameronjsamuels Thanks for letting me know! I wasn't too certain of what the extent were for bug fixing/changes. I'll see what I can do for the pixelated graphics post-jam, I did imagine some people would realize it's zoomed in when they saw them haha.

Thanks, @youbestrong! I do realize that the graphics are low resolution due to the fact of it being zoomed in, but still, having them higher resolution would make the game have a better UX.

This was a nice game. I had a feeling from the beginning that I wasn't patching up a house. I was right. It was sad to see it, but really true. I can't see for sure the connection to the theme, maybe it's the more problems you have the more broken you are? Can't quite tell.

It was nice to see the hand drawn art, great work.
The tape and fixing liquid in Unity were really nicely done, how did you do it?

@saramartins Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked it. You are pretty much on point about the connection with the theme. The more problems, issues or damage someone has, the worse it is. It sounds a bit too straight forward said like that, but that was the base idea for my game. :)

The tape and fixing liquid were both trail renderers that had their lifetime were set to Infinity so that they would never disappear. Also the end of the tape is square because by putting the amount of end cap vertices to 0.

Fantastic entry! The way the camera pans set up the perfect amount of curiosity to carry me to the end.

I love the visual aesthetic, and how some of the Unity effects were used for the tools (really clever!). I think it was an all-around great entry and I'm really impressed it was done solo. Only complaint is the second glue objective took me a LOT of glue, I think it might've been bugged.

Really good work!

Whoa, great game! It's very relaxing and even though the concept didn't seem fun to me when I started, I still completed the entire thing cause it was so relaxing and fun. I got kinda frustrated at the glue levels, cause I seemed to cover up everything but it didn't go to the next one. Still, a great entry! :D

Thanks everyone! I finally felt like I had enough time to go through some games and leave comments. And you are correct, there is a bug with the second glue part but it seemed minor and I didn't have enough time to change it before the submission. I'll be sure to fix it for the post-jam build which I'll be working on this week.

One thing I'm not too sure about anymore is if I should have opted-out of humor. I did include some jokes in the dialogues, since it was meant to have a more light hearted tone at the start, but I can totally understand the people who decided not to vote in that category.

A rather personal game that seems like it's meant for someone rather than everyone, so it is cool for you to share it. I could sort of tell what was going on halfway through and was afraid that the ending would potentially be generic and wishy-washy, so I'm glad it wasn't that. I really liked the implementation of the caulk/tape mechanic (that you've already talked about above) and the instrumentation choice--the woodwind sounds like a thing out of Animal Crossing or similar.

Sweet little game! I kind of think that the sound of the text seemed to aggressive compared to the mellow feeling of music and art, but that was just a detail. I really appreciate games like this, that tell a story and feel personal.
