E.(a)T. by BrothersT

You are a very hungry life form. So hungry in fact that you will die within seconds if you don't keep eating! And what's worse, pesky little aliens are overrunning your little planet and eating all your food! Boot them into orbit and survive for as long as you can.

[Update, 27 April] Full disclosure: we updated just to add a single image at the start. The image had already been drawn during the jam but didn't make it into the first build. If you think this change warrants a post compo version please let us know, but we're hoping you'll forgive this minor fix, just this once

If you would like us to check out your game, let us know in the comments and we definitely will!
Hope you enjoy the game! Looking forward to the battle for 1st on the leaderboard! :nerd::joystick::zap::joystick::nerd:

The only thing that would make it better is more of itself. Different aliens, food, or hazards, to add some variety. Of course, as it is now it is a nice tight package.
The kind of game I like.
Nice plush style of the character, nice animations, nice music.
I sign for the battle.
I like the art style and while not a category, excellent game page design on itch.io.
As for gameplay, I feel it was simple but in that simplicity it was fun. I found myself trying to keep the food bar up and defend my next food source from those evil blueberries.
Music was well done. It definitely compliments the graphics and general mood of the game.
Graphics, sound, and controls were excellent.
I would definitely recommend to focus on variety if you decide to take this further, there's room for more enemies, food types, maybe powerups?
All in all, a tight, nice little package and a solid entry. Well done!
Totally in love with all the graphics, like the model of the characters, the space skybox, the plants etc...
The small intro is well designed as well!
The controls feel great too, really responsive.
The kicking mechanic feels nice, like you wanna shoot the enemies even more, and the feelings is also made even better with the sound effects.
And moreover the online leaderboard is a really great plus!
One thing I guess I would add, to have some more "game feel", it would be some particles when you kick an enemy or eat a fruit or even when a meteor collides with the planet. And I think you could easily go even further with this game by adding new planets with like new eco-systems and so on.. ^^
Amazing work guys! :D

In any event, I had a blast with this one. Good job!

* being able to use space to interact - repeatedly hitting the control key is awkward
* indication of what's going to happen when you interact - highlight the food that will be eaten or the aliens that will be kicked
Graphics are really great, the scoring is a good idea.
Great job !
The animations, the online leaderboard, the funny gameplay, ... congratulations.
Main thing I would change is an audio notification when you're close to running out of food, and _possibly_ some sort of radar for enemies.
I also discovered, I really don't have what it takes to reach the high-score table on this one :-p
Oddly enough, I got stuck at the "Enter your name" part at the end. I typed stuff in and hit Enter, then it just sat there. Hitting Escape at that point dumped me out of the program altogether.
Take a chance to my game too: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/the-microns
Graphics and sound are very cool!!)
* I would like for the kicking/eating to be faster/more responsive, because there were times where I almost died while being on top of a fruit-thing and I couldn't eat fast enough.
* While the aliens are keep on coming, there is no some kind of "rubberbanding" mechanic to enable the player stay alive longer. It would be nice if there was some kind of "progression" or something to make you better as the aliens come. But that could just be me :P
Other than that, you've got a really great and fun game on your hands! Well done! :D
P.S.: I'd love to hear your feedback on my game, you can find it here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/leucos
10/10
I think personally I would like to see seperate keys for eating and punting. sometimes I ate instead of punting an alien and visa versa when there was a fruit and alien very close to each other.
Everything about this is super cute, the designs are lovely and I love the animation on the characters. The music is very fitting as well.
Great game! :D
