i love the artstyle, and the music fits the game very well, will definitely rate this one :)

Art style is very smooth looking, the gameplay at first was confusing but eventually I got it.

I experienced a overlapping issue with the white-boc thing and the closing in walls.

Easy 5 Star for mood. I love your soundtrack - it came out great! I would really recommend looking into looking into doing a webBuild. Although the file-size of the project could be a problem -> why is it ~500mb?

Are all the levels single high resolution bitmaps? Anyways - great entry!

Edit: just noticed your source-code isn't the source-code but just a regular exectueable. You need to upload your Unity-Project Folder as source for compo. :)

elZach, I tried to make a webBuild, but every site said that the file size was way too much. Sorry, I would hae preferred to make it playable on the WebBrowser, too, if I could...

Btw, thanks! :D :squid: @elzach

The best part of this game for me is the art :) ! Simple yet haunting, there's a really nice atmosphere to it :) ! I also really like the music ! A big well done for that too !

The Art is wonderful, the game is great too. One that would be even better to see expanded, maybe you have to go through multiple levels before finding the other members, but when you do they give you new abilities?

Smooth, nicely executed art style. It really makes the game. The art creates a very distinct mood.
The platform mechanics feel a bit too slow and sluggish for my taste, though. (Also, you can jump off your own projectiles. :rocket:)

All in all, very good job!

What can I say, the pictures are pretty. The music FEELS boxey, so that is fitting. One thing to note I had a one tree be in the foreground of the buildings but behind the character, after getting three of my little dudes.

The music and art style give a great mood. The game is very well polished, love that I don't run in to issues, that's a rare sight during game james (including for my own contributions).

The one thing I found was lacking a little was that I just held down my right arrow key and kept going. Some small dialogs when saving one of the squares could keep people engaged for longer perhaps.

Over all I rate this game really high.

@dries-vuylsteke I had the same feeling, it felt a bit strange just to hold down "D". Maybe I'll change the game so that there is another wall on the opposite site that moves converse to left wall... Thanks! :D

Hello there! Your aesthetics were looking great!

I wish your web playable were working, it would give more attention for those who doesn't have Windows as OS.

But let's get to your game criticism:
• You've made an icon, a nice intro, a menu with instructions which is great! Every tiny of those details put you into the mood of the game.

• Nice music, a little bit loud compared to the others that I've played so far. I'd like to recommend playing a video on a comfortable volume and set your initial value to a volume that you're comfortable with

• You've add lore, giving some context, nice touch

• The player movement/jump feels really slow and not realiable

• Should be great to have feedback

• I'd try it out more times, but the lore menu showing up everytime drains some energy of the replayability.

• The enemy hit feedback should be more visible if he dies or just is pushed away.

Well that's all I have to say since I didn't progress far.
(for some reason I'm not being able to comment with images so I'll post where I've stopped right next to this comment)

Good job with it!!
In case you continue to develop your game let me know! I'd love to see your progress! My info is on my LD profile!

Do you mind to give feedback to our game as well? (It’s a platformer that shrinks as well). The link to it is on my profile as well, I’ll not post link to avoid spam.

Cheers!

I've added a reference to your game in mine, so it would've been very rude for me not to play in it. Here's what I think: Game looks awesome, art, style reminds me about games made by the Tomorrow Corporation (Guys who made world of goo, little inferno, human resource machine etc.), Music sounds good, and don't get boring during playtime. The only thing that the game lacks is gameplay, I've managed to beat all levels by just pressing forward and jumping at the right time, HP bar is kinda useless because you will probably run out of space faster than get killed by an enemy.

And one little thing that made me a bit uncomfortable is that those cute cubes are not that squishy as they appears to be, when I looked at the preview, I thought that they have marshmallows-like consistency, but they are just white solid cubes instead.

Overall: I really like the graphics and the rest of the game feels good, so for me, this is a very great game.

Althought you graphic style is unique and I loved the ambiance, I was a bit bored after several play. But it is quite nice too :)
There is a bug in a level where you cannot really jump onto the platform and the wall that chases you runs into you very fast at the end, and lost. Good job.

Presentation is good, certainly drew me in. But the game itself is lacking, the player movement doesn't feel good at all, which is a problem considering it's the core of this game. It moves too slow, the jump doesn't feel right/good, if you hit jump while in air the sound plays but nothing happens.

I thought the enemies did nothing for the longest time. There needs to be some kind of front and centre feedback regarding getting hit.

The "collapsing level" is more going up and down? I couldn't really figure it out.

The file size is mad. I don't know what's in there, but this game should *not* be that size.

Music is great, and probably the best part of this game.

The game is well put together - audio and mood was really amazing, I loved it! <3 Graphics are really neat and the concept of the world and species is cool as well. Gameplay can be more dynamic, such as solving puzzles, and enemies can be more threatening (hit harder)! :) Overall a beautiful creation <3

Hey I really enjoyed the game, we both have square characters haha but your game feels like 10 times more polished than mine. I really like the increase in size of the main character, but I thought you could throw in there a touch of puzzle if you let the player arrange those boxes, now I feel like those boxes attached kinda arbitrarily to the main character. I think you accidentally have wall jump for your character, just like mine, however here after a wall jump the jump height of your character suddenly changes, he jumps higher than usual.

![5b76e1753d07b432116862.gif](///raw/31a/91/z/1a1e8.gif)

Anyhow, just very minor comments, I love the graphics of the game, very polished and moody. Idk if the character moves a bit slower when he has more mass, I didnt feel any significant changes so if there was, maybe you can make that a bit more noticeable. Overall an excellent gaming experience. GJ

17. Aug 2018 · 15:22 UTC
@nam-nguyen The wall-jump was indeed a bug, but I left it in the game, because it doesn't give the player an advantage, it rather helps the player if he gets stuck. :D :squid:

Monkosum
17. Aug 2018 · 15:46 UTC
i like that you used the theme in 2 ways. the first being, that the wall and the ceiling move, and the second being that you grow as you progress, so you need more space. but this game has a few flaws. the biggest is that it needs to be polished. sometimes the jumping doesn't work. this is when hanging an something, which i could understand, but sometimes you can jump. you bounce a few times on the ground when you land. this should be just a visual thing, but you can't jump while bouncing. what makes this even more confusing is the fact, that you hear the jumping sound while pressing the jump-button in the air. this is the biggest flaw in my opinion.
the second flaw i notices was the insane difficulty spike at level 7. i had no problems in level 1 - 6, but i died a few times in level 7, but besides those 2, rather easy to fix flaws, this game i pretty good.
i like the concept, the visuals, the music. it's just some things in gameplay that could be improved, so if you want to continue developing this game, then please keep this things in mind.

Cool designs and I really liked all the particle effects. A nicely ambient game!
The roof never seemed to be much of a threat tho, and the controls felt a bit sluggish, a bit more speed (maybe a smaller character) would have made it a much zippier game!
