Slightly 2 Overbuilt by JammedGame

[raw]
made by JammedGame for LD 42 (JAM)

Small area city management game. Build buildings and collect resources.

Your goal is to build the rocket in order to get off the planet.

Different buildings give different resources. Each building produces exactly 1 resource point of 1 resource type. You cannot have more than 1 resource point of any one type at any given time, so plan strategically. Certain buildings have roof parts that block building of anything above them.

Conserve space. Build smart.

To the stars!

Cool game! You should put a Web version as your graphism isn't demanding at all. You would get more people playing your game. Couple things that you could change; the buttons to select building are too small and there's too many of them. I didn't understand how ressources worked because never in the game have i needed them ? Your screenshots are awesome that's what made me want to play the game !

Fantastic concept. It's rare to see an LD game use the theme this effectively. I love well thought out, difficult puzzle games - I only won by a hair. Graphics aren't complicated but they don't need to be - the look fits perfectly. Could have used some music, but it was arguably more tense without.

Was a bit confusing getting started but after the first few buildings it all made sense.

Great work!

I think this was the best game I've played out of all the ~80 games I've played. Fantastic! Just incredible :fireworks:

Was a lot of fun to play and an interesting concept but I'd like some more audio rather than the music at the start

Great interpretation of the theme (literal, but fitting very well with the actual gameplay). Fun as a puzzle as well.

For me, only the main menu has music/sound... is this intentional? I think you could've extended this music over the main gameplay easily as well without any harm.

Please do include some more explanation, or at least make the little icons stand out some more, even (especially?) when they're greyed out... or instead, just make the 'tier 1' buildings that you can build in the beginning without requiring any of the others light up. (Maybe that was the intention? They didn't for me, which made it very puzzling when I couldn't build the others ... until I discovered they had little grey icons on then, and the others didn't).

I also wonder about the replayability... I was in a rush to get this rated before time and haven't checked thoroughly, but I think the building-blocks stay the same shape each time? Not sure how to overcome this, but if you do; well, you've got a solid 'basis' (this result) for building your 'rocket' (any hypothetical post-jam version) on!

Also: nice relaxing pastel colours! :-)

Far better then my first game. Its more like a puzzle but in 3D. Little counters at side should be good indicators for resources left and resources acquired nevertheless its a decent crude game.

What is amazing about this game is not the graphics (very simple to do low poly) or the controls (camera controls to look around could have been better) or even the UI (it was actually pretty bad).

What makes this game great is that the player is actually thinking about his actions and having a lot of fun in the process. It is also perfectly balanced. The first time I reached the rocket but didn't managed to place it. Second time I thought about building placement and managed to place the rocket.
