Game is sympathitic. The visuals are pretty great. But i think, it should have way more feedback audio and visuals. The bullets are hard to see.

The combination of the RPG side and runner works really great, great job overall ! The graphics are sober but beautiful and cute. The float jump and almost invisible bullets are a little bit frustrating. The game will be more easy to read with a little bit of color for the ennemy (just colored hair like the player). Really fun experience though keep up making games !

I love the graphic style, with a support controller it would be great! (and easier to manage too!)

Great game, even though the jump is a bit too floaty for my tastes. You have some veryimpressive sprite work, especially on the player's run cycle, but it all becomes very hard to see when it's in motion. Like someone else said, a bit more colour would help the sprites become more distinguished.

@niterich Thank you for the feedback! @Vyolfers worked really hard on that run cycle haha. We originally wanted to fully color everything, but halfway through the Jam we realized we don't really have enough time so we ended up going with this style.

Aesthetics and gameplay are pretty good. The controls could maybe be a little less floaty but I got the hang of them eventually. Solid game!

Nice game =D Don't you hate when you survive 30 bullets and die to a broken toe against a table? Went to 21154 on my last try, took me a little bit to get used to S not bringing you back down but instead changing your weapon =)

Super cool game! I loved the art style and the idea is really cool too! The music in the game was super charming and the small little sound effects were super cute as well! I feel like the desks were hard to see making the game a lot harder then it really had to be. The desks also insta-killing the player seems to be a little to brutal, along with that trying to raise my stats while running was super stressful and hard to do. If there was one last thing I would change it would be the controls, I think they were just a little cramped and you could benefit possibly moving the stat boost keys over to the right side of the keyboard.
Again great game with a super art style and some killer sound effects! Great job!

few things I want to mention before i start fangirling about how amazing this is
1- in game maker you can make a zip file instead of installer, makes it easier for people to run the game ^^ i advice using that instead of installer, i for one dislike installing things if i can avoid it xD
2- the background music wasn't bad but wasn't great either

now off to fangirling - I absolutely loved the art, the game play the smooth acceleration the control of jump height the enemy variety the art the art the art the art did i say i loved the art yet? XD because i loved the art xD also i liked the cute little quick voice acting at the beginning and very nice starting page showing all the controls xD overall really good entry and really fun game xD smooth and fun, very nice sound effects very awesome and cute art.

good job both on the programming part and on the art part :D cheers

@vkmicro Thanks a lot for the feedbacks! Great suggestion about the zip files, I'll keep that in mind for my future submissions. As for the music, I don't really have much experience with it so I just whipped out something quick near the end of the jam hahah!

If you really liked the art do check out our artist (@Vyolfers)'s twitter page! https://twitter.com/vyolfers (Sorry for the shameless plug xD)

I keep being amazed at what people can do in such a short time, but yours is probably one of my top three games for this jam!

I love the art style, sound effects and gameplay is pretty fun too, but I think it's really annoying that these desks (or boxes?) can kill you in one hit.
🎤 Sholf
24. Apr 2018 · 19:57 UTC
@Azargaz Thanks for the feedback! The desks are definitely the top killer for most people. We're planning to color it in a future update to increase the visibility which should hopefully make it easier to avoid them :)

@Sholf that might help but I think they souldn't instakill you, unless they already don't and it was just me always on low hp when getting hit by the desk

I loooove the aesthetic in this game. Some of the very best art I've seen so far in the jam. Awesome genre mashup too. They seemed pretty compatible to me. : )

Saw it on langotriel's stream. Gameplay is fun, buy having the player having do mind stats and upgrades WHILE running is kinda messy. If you guys decided to keep working on the game, I would advice having a 'shop/panel' between stages (or after death if it's and endless-one-stage-runner) so you can upgrade your stats there. Nice job!

I actually like this sketchy art stile. Good game, tables are OP.on't see exactly the 2 genres. :D But Good job! D

Cute artstyle but lacking in readable visual design. The audio is serviceable and the gameplay needs to cook a little longer to be fully realized. There is potential here, though. Good job.

I love the art, the sounds and the music. Especially the "hallway rumble" at the start. Wish that would come everytime I restart :P The difficulty was really low, I felt that the only thing really challenging was jumping over the tables. Shooting with the smg constantly is possible when I level it 4 times. At that point I basically constantly shoot and just try my best at the jumping. I think the problem lies in the endless runner part. Maybe instead of making me automatically move forwards, I have to do that by myself completly. And then the camera wouldnt be fixed. I would instead be chased by my senpai. Who has a specific speed. Which means I can outrun him, and then for some seconds chill take a deep breath, take my milk etc. and then keep going. That way the rpg part can be harder, and the endless runner part has a nice contrast between stress and stress free parts. Maybe instead of the teacher just a short break, when you level up.
I enjoyed your game a lot, thanks for making it!

cheers

Loved the art style and the music. I tried the Original version and it's good that you added those updates.
I do agree eventually is more about dodging the the tables in the end than the shooting after some upgrades.

Also I wanted to thank you for the comments you gave us on our game on the stream (Sorry the chat was moving quite fast and lost track there) Hope to see you in a future game jam

I’m not sure if you were able to see it, but I played your game on my stream at https://www.twitch.tv/saoigames tonight.

I must say I don't understand the story behind this game. Some Japanese school child goes on a murderous rampage, and when classmates and teachers try to stop them, everyone is fired upon.

Yet walking past a stool will cause her to die instantly.

There was a lot going on I wish you had introduced the enemies and the power-ups gradually so players could get time to understand the tool before being handled 10 button configuration system.

I played through several times and still struggle to find time to use any of the items I picked up, let along learn what they are about.

@saoi-games Thank you for the detailed feedback! Unfortunately I missed the stream but your feedback is very much appreciated :)

There isn't much of a "story" behind the game, just a naughty student wreaking havoc in the school's hallway and the teachers and other students are trying to stop them. The guns used are toy "nerf" guns as evident from the bullets bouncing everywhere and the lack of blood splatters so I'm not sure if "murderous rampage" fits here haha.

The game mechanics are mostly that of an Endless Runner (see "Jetpack Joyride" if you're not familiar with the genre). It's less of a story-driven genre and more of an arcade game where you simply try to reach the best highscore.

The confusing micro-management is an intended aspect of the game, however we later realized that it was indeed an overkill. I wish we could add a better tutorial that explains the game better but alas, we ran out of time and had to cut a lot of things.

We're currently working on balancing the various aspects of the game for the Post-Jam version and feedbacks like yours helps us a lot, so thanks again! :)

Hey, solid gameplay and I love your graphics style. Very nice.

Btw. you should probably mention in the download links that you have a zip version and not just an installer on itch.io , I almost skipped this game, because there's just no way I'm gonna go through an installer for a jam game. (luckily I wasn't too lazy to check the itch.io page regardless, since this was very worth playing)
