* Description *

You have a date tonight! Both of you are somewhat-well-known internet celebrities, however, so your loyal fans won't stop pestering you!

Try to get to know your date better by talking to them (increasing your "Connection"), while keeping your fans at arm's length. (You love your fans, but now is NOT the time.)

Enjoy this dating sim + tactical RPG mashup!

* Controls *

Use mouse + left click to control everything; hit Escape to exit (or use the close button in the top right corner).

Note that this game * must * be played at fullscreen, and it is strongly recommended to use 1920 x 180 resolution. Sorry for this; we messed up the scaling. :)

* Mechanics & Theme *

As internet famous people, it's impossible to have a quiet date. Your fans keep coming up and trying to talk to you as well as your date. You can distract them by tweeting, but if they reach the date location they will lower your self esteem. If self esteem reaches 0, it's Game Over.

Move the date to new locations with better Atmosphere to increase the Connection that you and your date are building. Once 10 pm hits, the date is over, so rack up the highest score you can in that time!

As a social media celebrity, your date is also subject to the whims of his or her fans.

In terms of the theme, we thought that dating + tactics would be fairly incompatible. (And we're not talking about tactics games where dating has a tiny effect on the tactical element.) The notion of trying to progress in a date (by talking to your date) while also strategically working to fend off your fans was an idea we quickly got excited about, and we hope you will too! We had lots of other ideas for this game, such as ensnaring your own fandom to fight off your date's fans.

Some more in-depth details (minor spoilers): - Talking to your date is the only way to increase your connection; it is based on your current self-esteem and the Atmosphere of the date location. - You can switch date locations after 7:15 and 8:15, which removes all fans, and advances to the next hour. This also increases Atmosphere. - After 9:15, you can end the date, which is a win! Try for a high score. - Your date and your fans can lower your self-esteem; if this hits zero, it's Game Over!

* Known Bugs *

  • Sometimes the "tweet bombs" won't fire --just keep clicking!
  • If the game freezes on Game Over, please let us know how you died (we thought we fixed most of these).

Lots going on here and handled well. I enjoyed and played it for much longer than I thought I would when I first got started. Solid effort.

Pretty entertaining! I was kinda confused on how the date's reactions were related to the numerical rewards I got, i.e. my date would be confused at what I said but I got +70 connection.

Fun game, I like how you have to stop the date to deal with fans then suffer the consequence of using your phone while on a date :)

The date's reactions seemed totally random, so I wasn't really sure how to progress meaningfully. One time I got the same prompt and gave the same answer and got a completely different result. Also, after I moved the date the first time the couple disappeared off the map, so I couldn't actually make decisions. It's an interesting idea, but It didn't really feel like I had any control over anything.
