Inky Dragon Inc by atridas

[raw]
made by atridas for LD 41 (JAM)

You have inherited a ink laboratory, time to get money with it!

This is an open-ended-puzzle / tycoon game. You set up your worker instructions in order to win money and complete quests! Can you optimize your ink laboratory?

Controls with mouse via GUI. You have to click on the workers to set up their instructions. If you run out of money long enough you'll loose but that's ok, it only prevents to complete the storyline but you can play as long as you want!

  • Art: Ada Ferran Rubies
  • Programming & Design: Isaac 'Atridas' Serrano Guasch

Technologies used: * SDL + OpenGL * Emscripten for web support. * Adobe Photoshop * Visual Studio 2017

Web build is uploaded for convenience but has some glitches (mouse events are lost or do weird things / some textures have ghosts on the borders). The "real" submission is the Windows one.

**I really Liked your game. It's fun **

And it's well balanced and well written.

I wonder why this game get no review. (I think you need to put images of game in the game page)

Game looks complex at first it's not after 3-4 min in the game.

Game systems and feedbacks are also working well (ex. if we given wrong command than also it displays it's wrong command)

I earned 3200$ by selling ink, and have 4 employee

Very nicely made game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 41 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgRYnPldaL4

Nice concept! It's great to be able to add several operations on a worker and create a little production chain. There is some issue with user interface (I played the web version), often deselecting a worker when I'm trying to set it's task. I also think that an easier way to assign task would improve the game a lot, with using less lists, and maybe more icons, or directly selecting buildings on the map. Last thing, sometimes if too many workers (like 3) are using the same building, they may block themselves and jam the whole loop. I would suggest a simple "go there" order so you can push a worker away if needed. I was sometimes forced to fire a worker just to get them out of the way, and then hire them back just after. Anyway, making ink for dragons is a great concept and the game as a lot of content already, good job !

I love production line style games and this was no exception. I had an issue where setting tasks sent me back to the main window, which was kinda frustrating (web version). I also couldn't work out how to make paper after the second quest.

This is really cool and reminds me of all kinds of great games like Factorio and Magnum Opus but when I try to launch the download version it says "error(#263) "Precision qualifier" is not supported prior to GLSL version 1.30" Not sure if that's just because of my graphics card(radeon hd 7660D) or if that's something I could fix with a driver or something
The web version works fine as far as I can tell.

Is there a point to warm and cold cauldrons? Also I don't see how I'm supposed to make some of the things they should be able to produce since I can't move the necessary dyes to them(ie. Chartreus in cold would need yellow)
I don't see a way to deconstruct/sell buildings, I accidentally build something in a bad spot.

Sorry @Unentokku those are probably bugs.

* the gl bug it's probably because ATI drivers may be stricter than NVidia drivers and I only tested NVidia (it's what I got). Web version is fine because it uses a slightly different shaders.
* Warm/Cold cauldrons are supposed to make warm/cold tints faster, but it's possible we messed up setting the available inputs.
* Sell/Move of stations was planned, but we couldn't implement it at the end :-(

I'd like to play your game but the web link is not working for some reason. If you fixed it let me know.

very nice economic game. at first it was not too bright for me, i think that gui is too complicated. but when i was everything understand, it really was addicted and giving a lot of fun.

Browser versions work fine for me, but I also checked this on windows.

really great work, especially for doing it in c ++ i opengl , and not in "unity" :)

(ps. sorry for my bad english)
